patty stephens, larry waller among county manager finalists...
the third is wayne patterson who resides in lamar county and is a top executive with clayton county.
Somethings not right about these finalist. A former county employee no one trusts and a former elected official that no one voted for. This should tell us what the commission thinks about their constituents. Think about what you're doing guys before you make an irrevocable decision.
If we ever needed proof our local government is totally dysfunctional or crooked we have it now.
They actually want to consider placing the former voted out good ole boy Sheriff in a postion where he could affect resources of the new Sheriff that beat him in the last Sheriff's election. Nice brainpower!!
They want to rehire someone who was fired for writing false payments (that they never tried to get back) to write more checks.
We need to get rid of all these clowns as elections come up. They obviously can't think very clearly.
Stephens and Waller? You have got to be kidding me! I can't believe they were even allowed to apply. Is this the best we can do? Stephens and Waller. Sounds like Laurel and Hardy. I don't know Mr. Patterson, but heck, that's probably a good thing. Let's give this guy a chance. If they hire either of those other clowns Lamar County govt will surely be a three ring circus.
You all have to understand the reason they pick these people. It isn't because they are stupid. It is because they are smart and know who will cover their rears if they do something crooked.
Two of three have experience at changing records or covering up. That's an ideal resume for a County Manager.
A lot of you have jumped to some mighty big conclusions about Patty Stephens. It was my understanding that she was never found guilty of the charges. As for sheriff waller I can't say, but can he be much worse than the ones that are in the offices now?
This has got to be the epitome of STUPID!!!! It’s absurd! My goat could have picked a better group of finalists blindfolded. Come on now!!! This has got to top all - the county commissioner, board of commissioners, as well as the interim county manager actually think this is a great list of qualified people??? Well I'd hate to see the list of people who didn't make the cut. Something smells! You are right – these people are smart – it’s all about them and “what can you do for me”. I’ll cover your back if you cover mine. They are all crooked. Not a conscience or level head amongst them. Are you sure we even need this position, or is it just a cover up for people (elected as well as paid employees) not wanting to/not doing their jobs?
Patty was not prosecuted because the DA, long and well known to be totally soft on prosecution of anyone except poor unknown trash that can't fight back, decided it was a civil matter.
Then it falls on the Commissioners, who are so lame they gave Barnesville millions of dollars without a fight, to go after Patty in civil court. Of course it is well known that people in that building scratch each other's backs, so none of the commissioners are going to push the issue. Some of them actually worked hard to get her off!
Just because someone never went to trial doesn't mean they are trustworthy.
Then look at Waller. When he was Sheriff and was defeated, he turned the prisoners loose and fired all sorts of staff. If you read back copies of the Herald Gazette you will see this is a fact.
After acting out like that, these same people on the commission who let the Stevens matter evaporate and let the city keep county assets (or who at the least picked the people who gave county money to the city) want to put Waller in a position of controlling county funds including interfacing with the Sheriff office.
We have a bunch of incompetent self-serving chicken short memory fools steering this ship!
If they didn't trust an employee well enough to keep her in her job, they shouldn't trust her to assume a higher position. George Brown and Gene Hardwick are probably behind wanting her back.
As for Waller, everyone knows what happened at the SO when he lost the election. Just read the old papers.
We need Dr. Phil to screen future commisioners. They just aren't wired normal.

Look at the ad the Sheriff ran in the last herald gazette!!!!
First the sheriff said the prosecutor wasn't doing his job and playing favorites.
Then the prosecutor said the sheriff makes weak cases.
Then the sheriff pays for an ad in the last Herald Gazette that shows a non-prosecution motion the prosecutor made that told the court Henry county agreed to sell the stolen bulldozen so there was no case.
Next to it the Sheriff published a letter that pretty much proves the prosecutor lied to the court in order to drop the charges.
People wonder why things are a mess. When one person tries to do his job properly all the other fools don't support him, and this all costs the taxpayers big money.
These two documents speak volumes about what really goes on and everyone should buy a copy of the last Herald Gazette and read the documents.
If I wanted to commit a crime I'd do it in Lamar county.
He is just campaining. If you want to find out why that case got thrown out then investigate what the DA meant by "weak case." It is easy to place blame on others to take the heat off of yourself and your mistakes. Seems to be going on a lot lately. The next few weeks should get very interesting to say the least.
its because of the mill mentality of the people of lamar county,they dont want anything different they dont care if their kids get pregnet and have 3 or 4 mixed race kids just as long as they can watch "Dale" on sunday and drink their beer and have a carton of somkes,while the dawgs play or the falcoons i'm sure that mr waller will get his grubby hands back in power in this county some how and i wonder if he will complain about the crimes that all those criminals commited that he let loose in his little pouting session after he lost the election
Stop using lame ad hominem attacks to discredit facts or divert issues.
No matter what reason Buice published the documents, the documents are there for all to see.
Instead of swallowing the garbage spewed by the spinmasters trying to cover their rears, look objectively at the facts.
The prosecutor has a long history of NOT prosecuting cases when it looks like they will take any time.
He submitted a document to the court saying Henry county offered to sell something and stating that's why charges were dropped, while at the same time Henry County was calling him a liar.
Think back to all the cases we have had and see how many went to trailwhen they involved someone with:
1.) Money 2.) Friends in the network
The prosecutor appears to avoid ruffling feathers or doing work at any cost to the community.
How anyone can turn that around and fault the Sheriff with such a lame ad hominem attack as yours is beyond all common sense.
WARNING. Everyone needs to watch out for the DA. I know first hand that he will lie straight to your face to close out a case. The only interest that man has is his own and that of his "good ole boy" friends. He cares nothing about the community.

Mr. Patterson has excellent credentials. I am certain he will be the choice and will make an excellent County Administrator/Manager.
He will bring fresh ideas, proven management experiences and a reputation of looking to the future instead of always looking in the rearview mirror.
Lest we not recycle ole has-beens.
