last week, a winter storm narrowly missed lamar county and school officials were watching the weather closely. a lof of factors go into making the decision to grant students a 'snow day'.
school superintendet bill truby gathers information from multiple sources - media, police officers, transporation officials, etc. - before making his decision. if schools are to be closed or the opening bell delayed, truby then alerts the news media, including the herald-gazette.
school closings will be posted on the herald-gazette website as soon as possible.
at present, no winter storm type weather is predicted for the next 10 days but that could change.
stay tuned.
