pay increases for the councilmen and mayor because they deserve a pat on the back. how about a pay increase for the back bone of the city. the utility crews that are out during the middle of the night, road dept working in the middle of summer to make bville look good, and for annie mae how about raises and more police officers, there have been two officers on night duty since 1968. if you want to quote dates. a Good leader looks after the troops before themselves, so dont be so quick to pat your self on the back sam.

How about giving the property the Ag Autority wrongly gave to the city back to the county that paid for it all???????

As far as the Agriculture Authority, the city is aware that they took advantage of a weak county commission that lacked the intestinal fortitude to stand up and support all their citizens. A split decision; with a commission chair that put county citizens living in the city limits above those that didn’t and a commission that allowed an illegal action to go unopposed. I am disappointed that the city resolved the matter with an appeared focus on greed rather than integrity. Actually, and in my opinion, it is the appointed authority board that should be held accountable.

As far as I know the authority has not yet been dissolved. That will require action by the state, which they hesitate to get involved because of the actions of the authority. Everyone should contact their state representative regarding “YOUR” Lamar County Ag Authority and the Lamar County assets that the authority was trusted with.

Too bad people don't accept the responsibility for doing the right thing for the taxpayers that goes with all the bright lights and neon signs of serving on an authority.

great job sammie and annie mae. The city looks great, i love going to jackson and see the crowd in front of the store. Your business must be booming. You know that being the owner you can post no loitering signs and remove those people unless they are paying customer (1.40 for A 40) or you can allow them to hang out at the tree in the field in the view of visitors arriving into barnesville. GET THE PAPERS READY I WANT TO PURCHASE A HOME. RAISES FOR EVERYBODY.

I THOUGHT EVERYBODY HANGING OUT WOULD BE A DRAW TO THE NEW NEIGHBORHOOD (A CLOSE COMMUNITY) I COULD MOVE MY FAMILY TO THE NEW SUBDIVISION AND HAVE MY KIDS WALK TO THE STORE, WHILE ME AND MY WIFE COULD WALK OUT THE BACK DOOR AND GO TO THE CLUB DEVILLE. BEFORE ANYBODY IS GOING TOO PURCHASE A HOME, THE NEIGHBORHOOD NEEDS TO BE CLEAN UP AND WHAT TYPE OF CITY ALLOWS A CLUB IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA. LOUD MUSIC GUNS GOING OFF FIGHTS PEOPLE WALKING THRU MY YARD AND A OVER POPULATED PARKING LOT WITH NONPAYING CUSTOMERS.

A raise for city council. What a joke. It is already an outrage that they get health benefits for a part time job. Instead of raises, they should be stripped of salary and benefits and paid a per diem.

They need to give the officers at the PD a raise to start with....the utility crews already make a lot more than them from what I saw in the paper. They also need to hire some more officers...especially for the night shift.

They need to re-hire Neal Devane. He looked after the fire department and kept us all safe. There is no telling where we'd be if he still had his job. Beg him to come back and give him the raise. His talents are being wasted as a reporter.

2:55 what a joke! I know you had to be kidding!?!

Anonymous said...

Nope. I am not kidding. Neal gets made fun of because admittedly, he is a bit off center but he was a good fire chief. I have often wondered what in the world he was fired for..Probably something silly could have been handled in the office.

Okay I understand the mayor getting paid, but not the city council like they do. They barely do anything and when you ask questions or address concerns with your coucilman/woman you get a the run around. What ever happen to working the public office for the benefit of the public and the good of mankind?

We want 9 paid fulltime firefighters for the Barnesville and Lamar County, both departments, please. Barnesville-Lamar County Fire & Rescue Departments would like to thank you and thank you for new bike team, carts, apparatus, radios, uniforms and supplies. We will have someone in your area soon.

No more police officers and sheriff, too much. No more new car, uniforms, and supplies for police and sheriff. All time fight again... That is why police and sheriff nothing does anything.
