We appreciate Bruce Akins and the good citizens like him who have given so much of their time to promote this community. I hope he and others will not allow a certain few negative people keep him and others from continuing to serve our community. It is too bad that people (not even citizens from here) try to discourage him and others from continuing to serve. It is time for the quite majority to rally and shut the few whinners up!

Because he's a hard worker instead of free loader he gets criticized by a few whose words aren't even heard. So Bruce hold your head up high. Thanks for your community service.

Some people in this community like to confuse "good old boy" with good citizen in an effort to bring unwarranted smears down on people who don't go along with there ideas or have ideas of there own. People like Bruce who has not committed just a few years of service to our community but a limetime should not be ridiculed for serving. When we fine people willing to serve and to give countless hours back to our communtiy that doesn't make them a good ole boy. Some people don't realize how influential Bruce's Dad was in developing and reaching out to the people in the housing authority. Why shouldn't his son carry out the legacy that his Dad was such a part of. We need to turn the tables on our people in the community who want to discredit good works for political or personal reasons and start questioning them.

Everyone can have their comments about the "good old boys or girls" of Lamar County, but if it wasn't for them and their history with this county, the outsiders wouldn't have wanted to move here. The locals that didn't move, help make it the great place it is to live. Bruce Akins and his family paid their dues many years ago and I thank God for people like them.
