arrested was jeffery michael smith, 21, of 517 denton street in thomaston. he is charged with terroristic threats and acts and criminal intent to commit theft by extortion.
denton used the online moniker mrxofgeorgia666@live.com
if you have had any dealings with anyone using that or a similar e-mail address, call the cops!
bpd investigator al moltrum said people often put too much personal info on myspace and facebook pages. do you spend time on such sites? do you agree with moltrum's assessment?
moltrum said denton told investigators he got the idea for the plot from a movie released in 2005 entitled derailed. have you seen the movie? if so, report on the plot.

I'd like to take this time to thnak you for a wonderful newsaper and for getting the blog going again. I realize there are two online news sources but the powerful combination of Internet for those who don't like to read lengthy articles and printed media for those that do is unbeatable!
Please do not let the little children discourage you or affect your actions. They will put things on your blog to try to drive people away or to force you to turn it off.
Most of us know who they are and can ignore the immature way they attack you and the great things you do for this community. If you weren't number one they wouldn't try so hard to go after you.

Plot of Movie:
Charles is worn down by his home life where he and his wife struggle to cope with the demands their daughter's illness, and his job. When he meets Lucinda on the train to work in Chicago, there is an immediate spark between them. Soon they are doing lunch; dinner and drinks follow. This leads to an adulterous rendezvous in an hotel. But no sooner have they torn each others' clothes off than their room is invaded by a thief who beats Charles and rapes Lucinda.Because of the illicit nature of their relationship, Charles is reluctant to go to the Police and soon finds himself powerless to resist the every demand of the thief. At the end you finde out that Lucinda was in on the whole thing with the thief to scam money out ot Charles.
Myspace had nothing to do with the plot as you can see.

Myspace is bad news and has been from the beginning.
I'm glad they caught this guy. It just shows how easy it is for someone to get personal info on someone. This guy looks like a rookie. Just think about the hardcore criminals out there that know what they are doing....its scary!
My children have my-space accounts. I periodically go on there and make sure there is no personal info. They do not have their name and address or hometown listed, but while looking thru the pictures posted, I noticed several with the kids wearing Lamar Co. Trojans T-shirts or hats and different things that Could allow someone to find out who they were and where they lived. Those pics are now gone. I know I am rambling but the point is, that even when they think they are being careful...they are not.
