when you first heard of the september 11 terrorist attacks?
has the united states handled the aftermath of those attacks properly? have the deaths of those who were murdered that day been properly avenged?
are we safer than we were at the time of the attacks - or more vulnerable?

I was sitting at my desk, turned to a co worker and said" Well, that's the end of this gig!"
10 months later, we were both layed off.
9/11 would only be remembered in the US and UK, along with other nationalities that died that day by them...THE REST OF THE WORLD WOULD MOURN 9/12, THE DAY WE MELTED AFGANISTAN IF I HAD BEEN PRESIDENT. probably all safer that I did not run.
I had stoped at BALAMAO to get supplys for a job and Bill Emerson said something is not good on the radio Iwent to the job and told the men to turn the radio on Icould not belive what Iwas hearing Iwent and turned the home owners TV on CNN Wesaw the second plane hit the tower America as I know it will never be the same for me. Capt. D
I was a flight attendant for Delta Air Lines, and scheduled to fly to Munich, Germany that night. When I heard the news I was sitting at Rose Nails having a manicure. We were all shocked. The proprietors, being Vietnamese, were in total disbelief...it brought back memories of them growing up during the Vietnam War. I will never forget that moment!
I was traveling to Augusta, on I 20, heard of the lst plane on the radio, stopped at a truck stop at Madison, and saw the second plane hit the tower. It was a sad day, in my opinion. I believe this opened the vunerability for our Nation, against Terrorists. I think the President did what he could under the circumstances. Anyone else would have probably been able to do about the same way as he did.
I was in LA getting ready to meet a business colleague from Boston for meeting with a client. When I met with him for a pre-meeting breakfast, he was white as a ghost pointing to the television showing the plane hit the WTC. He originally had a ticket on American flight 11, but I made him change it a few days earlier as I wanted him to be on-site for the customers meeting at 9:00 AM & not a minute later.
Neither one of us will ever forget how that day had a direct impact on us. Sometimes, being a demanding boss has its benefits.
My husband & I were in Pigeon Forge, TN on vacation getting ready to leave to come home when he called for me to come look at the news on the TV of the 1st plane hitting the 1st tower and the 2nd plane hit the 2nd tower as we were watching. We just sat there we couldn't move. Thank goodness we had not flown that time but as we drove back home I had not ever heard such a quietness in Atlanta as I did that day with no planes coming or going over head as you drove thru, it was wierd. No one old enough to know what happended that day will ever forget it.
I was homeschooling my children, and someone called and told me to turn on my television. We had a tragic History lesson that day as we stopped all schoolwork and remained in front of our TV as we watched the horrors in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania unfold before our eyes.
I was on my way to a meeting in downtown Griffin (just coming down Solomon St.) when I heard WSB break in to the Boortz show. At first I thought it was a freak accident. In the meeting, people kept getting cell phone calls and a guy in the building with a TV in his office kept popping in with reports. Each time he popped in, the news got worse, but the meeting went on as scheduled. I was squirning in my seat to get to a TV, and bolted for the door as soon as the meeting was over. At my workplace we had a big screen, so my co-workers and I just sat there in front of it, stupefied. It was surreal.
i was just leaving a dr's appt and a man sitting in a car in the parking lot spoke to me as i walked by. he asked if i had heard the news and i said no. i stood at his car window and as we both listened to the reports in total disbelief. i thanked him and headed home to catch any tv reports that i could. on the drive home as i continued to listen i thought back to the man in the parking lot. we were two total strangers, totally different in many ways and probably would not have ever even spoken in passing yet there we were listening together in that parking lot as two AMERICANS! to bin ladin i say, YOU WANTED TO MAKE A CHANGE HERE HUH? WELL YOU SURE AS HELL DID.
POWP
I worked the 2nd shift at CAT in Griffin so my last break was around 9:30pm and I went outside to get some fresh air and think about the events that had happened that morning. We all had been talking and trading our ideas about what we would do if we were President and knew who did this (remember it took a while to find out the guilty party). Even though it was on EVERY station in the world it still hadn't sank in completely to me until I looked up from outside where I was having my break and noticed that there wasn't an aircraft in the sky except for one flying in a steady circular pattern. When I called the others to come look we just stood there in disbelief. This was the only time in our lives that nothing was moving in the sky for the sake of travel or luxury, only for protection against an enemy attack.
4 hijacked aircraft hijacked a whole nation, just so happened to be the srtongest nation in the world. I pray that our country wakes up and realizes that our defeat is the end of any chance of sanity and peace any non muslim will ever have again. Iraq and 9/11 are linked and only a fool would disagree.
But we are a nation of fools, if we weren't this would have never happened.

working on the planes that carried all the equipment to the middle east.
I was living near an AFB...that morning, my husband woke me up to tell me to turn on the news. By that night, all you could hear were the B-12 bombers taking off. Still gives me chills to think about it.
B1? B2? B52?
I was on my way back from mcdonough on I-75, going to the stockbridge rock hole to get my 2nt load of the day. i had my radio on am750
How safe will you feel if america is attacked now. Knowing most of our military is some where else? How safe does it make you feel to KNOW red communist china has a plant in your back yard? How safe do you feel when the man who runs the store cant speak english and its your wife, children,or mother who needs help?....HOW SAFE? Think about it!
gillrilla,
It doesn't matter what language they speak, Timothy McVeigh & Eric Rudolph are home grown American terrorists, who did not care who they killed!
We are never safe from terrorism.
I was asleep....I work at night. I was in total disbelief when my husband called to wake me and tell me the news. I think I just cried and watched the news all day in shock.
i was leaving for work when i heard the president talk on the radio, i thought it was just another address until i arrived at the babysitters and she had it on the tv. we stood there for 20 minutes staring at the tv in awe at what just happened. when i got to school that afternoon after work they turned us away about an hour later. i can remember sitting on the couch that night watching it over and over again actually wondering if it was for real! "we will never forget"
I was visiting a friend in Indiana and was supposed to fly back to Atlanta the next day. I was a couple of days late back to work from my vacation due to all civilian aircraft being grounded. My boss was not understanding. Coincidentally, my position was outsourced on 10/30 I was out of work for 6 months - that's when W extended unemployment bennies because of all the layoffs. I was glued to FoxNews the whole time. I wanted to see our soldiers take merciless revenge on those scum. "Shoot 'em full 'a holes ans fill 'em full 'a lead"
