greenco environmental will pay $409,200.00 for appx. 34.1 acres adjacent to the lamar county landfill, returning the property to the tax rolls for the first time in over 30 years.
city council approved the sale unanimously, pending final approval by the b-lc industrial development authority. ida representatives are to visit similar operations to verify no future problems with noise, odor, etc.
realistically, who else is going to pay $12,000 per acre for land next to a landfill?

HERE WE GROW AGAIN! GOOD JOB. WE NEED ALL THE BUSINESS TAX BASE WE CAN GET. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK IDA & BARNESVILLE. I SEE THE LAMAR COUNTY COMMISSION IS COMING OF AGE AND STARTING TO PROMOTE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT. I HAVE GOOD FEELINGS ABOUT THE FUTURE FOR OUR COMMUNITY.
CAN ANYBODY TELL ME / US WHAT THE TAXES GENERATED WILL BE ONCE THE FACILITY IS UP AND RUNNING?
I am not clear why the IDA needs aproval from the city Someone please explain Good job Anne
the city owns the land and has for 30 years. they had the forsight to have an industrial park with land for the future. the city owns more land around this property that they wish to sale for industrial development. as any good land owner would do they want to protect thier remaining land investment surrounding this property by making sure they know what is going in around it. any good business person would have done the same thing.
if you owned 500 acres and wanted to sale it off for development, would you sale 100 acres to just anyone for any purpose? if so you run the risk of not being able to sale the remaining 400 due to what goes on the 100 you sold.
you would be the same person raising hell if the city had just said sure buy this land we don't care what you want to do with it.
GOOD JOB CITY!
i smell a rat! mark my words, someone around here just made a "little money on the side".
7:55AM: GO BACK IN YOUR CAVE!
HEY 7:55AM: IS IT ILLEGAL FOR SOMEONE TO MAKE MONEY ON A LAND SALE?
looks like we just found our culprit!
your right 7:55, i think there may be a few stinky rats about.
culprit? I am a real esate agent and i make my living on real esate sales. is this illegal?
I agree with there being a "rat". Watch these board appointments. A commissioner just appointed a real estate agent to the tax assessors board and impact fee board. wonder if they sold this land.
ah the truth is leaking out now!!!!

I'm the realtor that was appointed to the impact fee committee and the only knowledge I have of this transaction is what I have read in the paper and on the blog. That means Mr/Ms. 1026 that my company, my agents nor myself have nothing to do with this project.
My phone number is 770-358-2941 if you need to discuss this with me. P.S. I would be happy to give you my seat on the impact fee committee, interested?
kent k. i did not even think about you. lisa d. & rick v. came to my mind about recent apointments and being involved in real esate and development. i do not think anybody has done wrong. just don't look too good.

Understand 8:27, Rick is not a realtor to the best of my knowledge, but a developer and investor.
I of course what real estate transactions closely in the county and I don't believe a realtor from any company was involved in the sale, at least it is not reflected in MLS.
I suspect it was a private sale between the city and the buyer.

I don't proof what I write well.... I meant to say "I watch real estate transactions in the county closely"...
