Poor wording of the topic...unions and organized labor are ALWAYS BAD for any industry, regardless of whether it is in America or anywhere else in the world.

Unions and organized labor were once necessary to protect against unscrupulous big business. They have now become equally unscrupulous and thus a detriment.

both have outlived their time. long gone are the days of child labor and poor working conditions.

POWP

but, affirmative actions SUX!

We can talk about Unions or Onions if you want but the real issue for Barnesville and Lamar Co. is high gas prices. One man controls what we pay and he's eating our lunch.
I paid $2.54 in Carroll Co. last week and it's dropped more since then. He's ripping us off and we just keep paying.

unions & organized labor are the very reason this country is in such bad shape, people wanting high wages for sitting on their fat as#$'s and doing nothing just ask any conpany how the benefited from a union

It served a good purpose long ago, now it just funnels money to Democraps for campains when its not busy bankrupting companies.
The US business owners and hard working employees WILL need a union or organization of some sort to defend itself from these Socialist/Islamic/Capitalism Sucks- unions and organizations push for crippling the real America.
If those that love America don't stand together this Republic will quickly become the European Union's ugly cousin.
Do you really think the handouts and increasing tax burdens will end with Universal Healthcare?
We need to show America what a REAL Union should look like- No Boss, No Dues, No BS! Organized INDIVIDUALS that want to get back to the basics that have allowed America to thrive.
Say bye-bye to Pollitical Correctness, abusing the Welfare System, Illegal Imigration, the un-fair taxing of prosperous Americans and those who keep the American Dream ALIVE, and the concept of "Pappa Government will save us all"- SOOOOOOOOOO NOT TRUE.
Without this I believe we're screwed.
Just Vote for Hillary and get the Revolution started, the suspense is killin' me!

Who is this man controlling our high gas prices?

Walter,

Why not ask if Communist Chinese imports are bad for American Industry?

Wouldn't that be more fitting for today's times?

I see another million toys made in Communist China are being recalled.

The worst union by far is the teachers union. As adults, we have a choice to join a union. Kids in public school are subjected to the communists in the
teachers union every day.

DON'T WE HAVE A RETIRED UNION WORKER ON OUR COMMISSION?
THAT ANSWERS THE QUESTION RIGHT THERE. JUST LOOK AT HIM AND IT SUMS IT ALL UP!

The affirmative action deal is what is ruining the manufacturing industry! Too many people wanting high wages and not willing to put in an honest days work to get it. Someone said today the people this country imports all these half-a$$ed products from probably were being worked to hard. A little sweat-equity and a back bent sometimes would help the american companies and maybe keep jobs in America.

anonymous @ 5:22. Just curious about something you said. What do you consider high wages? What do you consider a honest days work? And one last thing: In your opinion, how much does a family of 3 need to earn annually to be comfortable? Good conversation starter.

Amen ZDA***** five gold stars for you!!
The teachers unions make it almost impossible to fire a worthless educator while making it next to impossible to give the great ones a raise.
The price of education for a single student per year has gone through the roof over the last thirty years with nothing to show for it, I'm including inflation on this. Technology has boomed! With new and inventive ways to educate and the use of computers, one would think education has increased in the US- WRONG. The scores are relatively the same as 30 years ago.
If a government or "public" school were in the free market -open to competition- it would have collapsed by now and wrote in the history books as a bad idea only a fool would believe in.....or a socialist commie maybe?

50 years would pass and a Democrap would dust off this idea and say, "DURR -DURR- Dis look like a good idea, gooberment handle my children, I don't have to worry bout dey education, every single child get stoopid at de exact same rate. I gone show dis to Queen Clinton, she love dis stuff!".

We dont need a union we got the gov. tellin us what we got to pay already its called minimum wage. And you see what we get for that.Good workers and bad workers get paid the same thing so we get substandard products.Same with gas, show them we will pay anything they ask, they will ask for everything! And you are rite Tom they flood the market whith cheap chinese toys and say americans will take this insted of making them therself. And as far as the teachers go, They get no respect.Ther job is to teach children but now parents think they should drop ther kids off at school for the teachers to raise. If your child has no maners or respect for others its your fault! Dont expect teachers to raise your children. And if you dont have the money to raise a child DONT ask me to pay for it.

You people who criticize unions and organized labor are uninformed idiots! Why don't each and everyone of you do a thorough research on work life before and after these organizations were formed. These organizations are what made the middle class of this country and thus thrust it into prosperity unseen before in history. If you want to be like Mexico or any other "third world" country, get rid of the these organizations and watch Canada complain about how illegal Americans are invading their country for work.

There is a reason they are both called organized labor and organized crime. Who do you think organizes the labor now. Men like Jimmy Hoffa. When unions are concerned about the companies as well as the workers they will do some good. If all they want is to TAKE as much as they can from the worker and the company, then you know it's not in anyones best interest.
I worked for Ford in Hapeville and I saw what happened to my dues. The officers of the union had a party every month. Not a small one either. Really bad employees were kept on because the union wouldn't let them be fired. Twice as many employees were hired to do a job as needed. My work load wasn't heavy yet the worker on the other shift filed a grievance because he said he was working too hard. I blame the union in part for the loss of my job. That and the short sightedness of management.

Any system which rewards workers based on seniority and not merit is bad for business, consumers and the general economy

unions have brought the united states to its knees, the main reason we pay the high prices we do for everything is because of the sorry union workers, the only reason a person wants a union is because they dont have a work ethic to keep a job

UAW gives their employees upwards and over 25 an hour and the big auto industry wants to sell these cars to people making 10 and less an hour. What's wrong with that picture

Regarding the Toys being recalled from China. It is ironic that the Smarter than We Are boys outsourced everything because the price was cheaper. They forgot cheaper prices mean something is left out. That is why Bridges fall, because they were built by the low bidder. Yet, none of the persons are willing to take the responsibility for lesser quality products.

The people who think they should be paid a higher wage are the ones running around saying who my baby daddy. The guys run around buying fancy wheels for their rides instead of taking care of a family are the ones making babies they don't support. Then they let the taxpayers support their illigitmate offspring. So they can ride and have gold capped teeth.

The reason america is in such a bad position is because all of you want to run to walmart and buy foreign made products because they are cheaper. If we would start buying more american made products.then again what american made products? Manufacturing has taken its jobs overseas to get the work done cheaper.

HEY ANON 7:37PM: DON'T TALK BAD ABOUT PEOPLE WITH SPINNIN RIMS ON THE CARS. ONE OF OUR VERY OWN COMMISSIONER HAS A CAR WITH THEM.

Unions are the reason we are now a consumer nation! They want more for things made in USA than for things we import from half way around the world. And dont get me rong Jimmy Hoffa did great things for truckers ( in his time ) times have changed. Now we let the mexicans do it and bitch cause thers no work! How about from now on yall read the lable, look for made in america, make sure the man cutting your grass is american,do buisness at american owned stores. We dont need a union to unite, this is the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! All we need do is keep it that way.
