nonpartisan election to fill the unexpired term within 45 days.

election for a full term in summer/fall '08. it would be great if we could vote in lamar the same day as the splost vote september 18 but that is just outside the 45 day window of opportunity if august 1 is the start point.

i am sure the governor will take that into consideration.

when i know more, you will know!

I hate we are losing the representation of Mr. Crawford. He and Larry Smith had the same view point, you ran for office as a Dem. or Rep., but onced elected you served ALL the people. I wish him the best.

Scoop,

President Bush's temporarily transferred the powers of his office for two hours to Vice President Dick Cheney under the rarely invoked 25th Amendment.

Does this mean that Dick Cheney can be considered a former US President?

Will part of his job be to oversee the sorry work of DA's like the one we have in Lamar County? He does not seem to have to answer to anyone now. We can only hope......

I was surprised Cheney agreed it would only be temporary!

If presindential powers were transfered by the president and Cheney was in the position of president, can he now be considered a former president?

I know he wasn't sworn in as president but the 25th amendment made him a temporary sitting president with full presidential powers.

Was Cheney president?

Don't need indigent defence in Lamar. The DA will just let you off with a tiny slap of the wrist.
