along with three others....they were returning from a fishing trip.
The Associated Press - COLUMBUS, Ga.
Five people from Georgia, including two children, were killed when a twin-engine plane crashed in Harris County near Pine Mountain on a flight that originated at an Alabama beach resort.
The plane went down Sunday in the southwest corner of the county.
All five passengers aboard the Beechcraft Baron were pronounced dead at the scene at 5:30 p.m., Harris County Coroner Dan Colbert said.
Jessie Champion Jr. of Griffin, James Cox of Concord, Mark McCarthy of McDonough and his twin 13-year-old sons, Mike and Chris, were killed, the Harris County Sheriff's Office said.
Teri Jackson, director of aviation at Jack Edwards Airport in Gulf Shores, Ala., said the group left from the airport sometime Sunday afternoon.
"They didn't require any services, fuel or anything of that type," she said Monday. "Our hearts go out and our thoughts and prayers are there for the family."
Jackson said the group did not file a flight plan and one was not required, given the afternoon's clear spring weather.
Colbert said the wreckage of the plane was spread out over about a quarter of a mile. Witnesses in Hamilton told Colbert they could hear the plane sputtering when it flew over the city.
The Federal Aviation Administration says no distress calls were received from the plane.
The National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.

this is sad...i coached Jessie Champion at both Barnesville Academy and Monroe Academy...he was a good kid...God speed Jessie and God bless your family
Is Jessie the son of Jack Champion? God Bless this family this has been such a terrible loss for all of the families involved. My prayers go out to them.
Everyone who ever met Jessie could tell you somekind of story. He was a unique and great individual. He will be truly missed.
I'll never forget "Juice" trying to tackle a guy running in the end zone with the football by sliding into him like he was sliding into home. What a character. The coach could not get mad at him and the rest of the team thought it was hilarious.
I also remember valet parking for a big party one night in Bville when we were 16 and driving some guys mercedes around town while he was at the party not knowing about it.
Good times. Such a tragic loss.
our highways, oceans, lakes and skies won't be the same! He can't be replaced, what a love for life and adventure he had! Nothing stood in his way ever and there was nothing he thought he couldn't have, do or achieve! Courage or Craze?...doesn't matter, he was loved for these things by many and the memories will last a lifetime!
The McCarthy boys were not 13! They were 15! I personally knew them... maby not as well as other people, but Mike actually sat right next to me in school, and Chris loved to joke around. I'll be praying for them and their family probably for the rest of my life.
Terrible thing to happen, predictable for he was not much of person to have common sense. Courage or Craze? I say Craze. He should have thought about his family: wife and two children, and the people on that airplane before pulling a stunt like what he tried to pull. Now he leaves a wife and two children with no will and I heard his mother got the life insurance policy. Way to think about your family. It was obvious he didn't really care about his family if that is true. My wife and I's thoughts and prayers are with the deceased family members and Jessie's wife and children. Give them strength to pick up the pieces and go on.
