Muslim Professor Al-Arian Continues Prison Hunger Strike, Supporters Hold Press Conference at Justice Department
Supporters Express Health Concerns and Launch 1 Day Solidarity Hunger Strike
WASHINGTON, DC - Feb. 19, 2007 (MASNET) Lawyers and supporters of Dr. Sami Al-Arian, academian and human rights activist, are holding a press conference on Wednesday, February 21st, 2007 at 11:00 am in front of the U.S. Department of Justice at 9th and Pennsylvania Ave, Washington, DC. Dr. Al-Arian is now on the twenty ninth day of a prison hunger strike, and despite serious health concerns have vowed to continue.
Dr. Sami Al-Arian embarked upon a hunger strike to protest his legal treatment, incarceration, and current eighteen month jail sentence for his refusal to testify testifying before a grand jury. This verdict was rendered against him despite a plea agreement he had with the government, which included a no-cooperation clause. The press conference is sponsored by the Muslim American Society (MAS) Freedom Foundation and includes Dr. Al-Arian's lawyer, Peter Erlinder, family members, religious leaders, human rights organizations, and other national Muslim organizations. The group has expressed serious concerns about Dr. Al-Arian's current health. Dr. Al-Arian, who is diabetic, collapsed while at the Northern Neck Regional County Jail in Virginia and has since been transferred to a prison medical facility in Butner, North Carolina.
Dr. Al-Arian's legal representatives have indicated that they are calling upon U.S Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to review the conduct of Assistant U.S. Attorney Gordon Kromberg. Attorneys for Dr. Al-Arian have indicated that Kromberg's subpoena of Dr. Al-Arian before the grand jury is a violation of a previous plea agreement. Additionally, in an affidavit filed by Attorney Jack Fernandez, it was indicated that Kromberg had expressed strong anti-Muslim bias and should recuse himself from the case.

I am tired of being tolerant to any and everyone who decides to come the the good ol' USA. If they are going to come here them they need to adapt to the American way. They need to learn how to speak english. They shouldnt have everything handed over to them on a silver platter. When are we going to wake up? Americans are the minority in America!
Last week President George W. Bush announced that he expects Americans to accept 7,000 Sunni Muslim Iraqi refugees into the United States.
The Iraqis will be given homes, food stamps, medical care, schooling, cars and endless welfare. This will be paid for by you, the American taxpayer.
Last week, a Bosnian Muslim refugee ran through a Salt Lake City mall killing Americans, his backpack loaded with enough ammunition to kill hundreds of people. If not for a courageous, patriotic off-duty police officer, it would have been much worse. The crazed gunman yelled, "Allah ho Ackbar!" (God is Great) as he shot one after another.
A religious Sect that is committed to kill non members of the sect is dangerous to everyone. I believe this deals with the true nature of these people. I feel there will never be peace in Iraq, because of the Sects divisions waring with each other. Not only that but we as christians are concidered infidels, and should be killed. All the subordinate sects believe this too.
