I won't badmouth J.B. but let me bad mouth the system that promotes this kind of injustice. People, beleive me this is a problem we can correct. Like I have posted before this war on marijuana is not substainable. Until we can grow our own for personal use the criminal element will only ruin lives, cost people jobs, fill the jails "which taxpayers will fund" and take huge amounts of money out of cities, towns, and communities and send it to places like Cuba, Mexico, or other countries. Get Real, the only reason it's against the law is because the alcohol and pharmacy industries lobby against and promote disinformation for their own interest. Therefore I urge you to write your congressman or sign a petition to decriminalize marijuana laws. In case you think marijuana is the devils weed or leads to hard drugs, it is only because you haven't observed enough.
This is my opinion but it is a fact, marijuana will help "us" the people of the USA see through the smoke and mirrors and the cultural brainwashing of which has let "us"become a self-destructive nation. It may not fix many problems, but if some of the smartest people I know aren't wrong it wont hurt to wake up and see the problems.... I agree

Change is good, it is way past time. Sooner or later these unjust laws will effect someone you know and love. Speak up NOW or give a legitimate reason why not. It's ok not to like marijuana but let others have the freedom of making decisions to be a thinking, caring, and more aware human being. It should not be a crime. Truer words may have never been spoken on the legalization part...maybe for different reasons though. Anyone who has a family member who has traversed the penal system because of drugs are shed a different light on the situation as well. Most of the drug offenders are truly non-violent people who simply want to get high. These people however account for 25% of the prison population in the US. Our country has rapists, murderers, and sexual predators who are getting reduced sentences because of some crackhead filling a jail cell. I do have a hard time understanding this one.
at least people will tell JB when there is wrong doing and at least he will do something about it unlike that last administration. the bottome line is that we have the best sheriff we have ever had as far as cracking down on crime and folks dont like it cause they or their loved ones are getting busted. do the crime, do the time or shut the hell up!!!

The county administrator and the county commisioners know about the maintenance shop incident. If they say that it is OK for her to have the work done, there is no violation of the law. They learned that from Patty.

If the truth be known about this marijuana grow. I was told that Fayette County Sheriifs Office was the one that found everything, and when they went to Lamar County Sheriff for assistance. The high and mighty Sheriff showed his butt and tried to throw everyone out of the county. And one of his Investigators broke into the house prior to a search warrant. Is this the kind of Law Enforment that Lamar County needs. It is time to look for a new Sheriff and Investigators. If you have any questions ask Channel 5 news who was there and filed the "Sheriff" showing his butt.

I thought in a real estate closing, which the agent is present and presents some of the facts of the sale, that the intent of the use of the property is part of the closing, so a tax plan can be established. Whether it is a residence, farm, business, foundation, or whatever.

I am proud other counties trust our sheriff enough to pass leads on to him. They know he will do something about it. Sheriff Joe this is a great Job, you have accomplished more in your first term than many have in their careers as Sheriff of Lamar County.

From what I'm reading, the Sheriff's account of what happened sounds strangely like a "fish" story... (guess old habits are hard to break) Because now we have investigators that were already "investigating", and deputies that had already set up a "surveillance", BEFORE Fayette showed up? Yep, sounds fishy to me, too... The next time someone throws the Sheriff a line, he should probably reel it instead of cutting it!
anon 10:35 When something like a drug house is established in another county and a different county finds out about it they have to alert the Sheriff of that county. I am positive it wasn't cause they liked JB or cause they knew he would get the job done as you say. There is a little thing called jurisdiction that restricts other counties from going in unless they are welcomed by local administration (which they weren't). So sorry but you are wrong, you are probably the only person that has so much faith in this idiot! This is really bad to read this about our sherriff here. Maybe some one needs to look into this further. Maybe he didn't act that way and maybe some people are just making up things, but it doesn't sound like that. If our sherriff is throwing other law enforcement out and not taking their help he is wrong. I hope some one tells him that he can not act that way. I probably will not vote for him next time. I hope we have more people to run next year.
I think it is time to recal the High Sheriff of this County for it sounds to me like he is a child in an adult body. I think he was a campus Police Officer. I think he needs to become a security guard and his so called Investigators need to fired or jailed.
The people of Lamar County should sign a petition to overthrow the man. I no longer live in Lamar County or I would start it. With enough people at least you could maybe get the GBI or the Governor to look into the actions of this man. I actually live in Fayette County with family there in Lamar and the overbearing JB is actually talked about here in my county. That is sad but at the same time he probably gets off on it! No sense in waiting till election time, put him in his place now! The family I have there are 80 and 82 years old so they don't have the health to get out and petition this thing but I assure you they will sign their names! Lamar county come together and do whats right. This man has really ruined some of the good deputies you guys had there by forcing them to quit jobs that supported their families and by firing them just for having an opinion. I didnt realize the Sheriff was not liked by so many persons. I suppose they or one of their family members have gotten busted, so it is the Sheriff's fault they got busted. Changing Sheriffs wouldnt change that.

From what I was just told by someone associated with Fayette co there was a verbal confrontation between jb and a commander about the bust.He did the same thing with chief White in Milner a few months ago sounds like jb stands true to his bad reputation.

They have families that they support with the careers that they have established only to be paranoid to think for themselves. These deputies are good people for the most part but they get the bad rap for doing things that they are ORDERED to do by this dictator of a sheriff. It is sad to assume that someone or their family has been "busted" as some have said because they speak out against what they think is wrong. I wasn't going to get involved in this but after reading these blogs I just have to. I know some of the officers involved and to hear them tell it JB acted like a mad man. He accused Fayette Deputies of illegally searching the house and calling the media. They tell a different story. In fact they say that they called Lamar detectives and asked if they could come to Lamar co. about a Grow house and that Lamar Deputies went with them to the house. When they got there they asked Lamar detectives to get a search warrant and Lamar county took it upon themselves to enter the house without one. They also swear that they did not call the media. JB was so busy pitching a fit (Foul Language included), that he would not listen to what Fayette had to say. Now I was not there but I know the lieutenant from Fayette (and like his brother who happens to be a very respected sheriff in an adjoining county), he is a man of honor and integrity. I have no doubt that he would not act in such a way. I wonder if JB would have conducted himself in such a way if he had known he was talking to a fellow Sheriff's brother. Don’t answer that, of course he would have, he is a man of no respect.
I wonder how these law enforcement persons from the other county would react, if our sheriff raided a place in their county? I have a feeling the reaction from them would be no different that the alledged reaction from our sheriff.

Well I know that the "great" JB is a blundering idiot. This isn't the first time his "people" have gone into a residence before a search warrant was issued. Nor is it the first time that JB has shown his unprofessionalism to other agencies.
I agree 4:55. What people don't seem to understand is that most of us voted for the man. The majority of the people who are now speaking out against him are doing so because of the things he has shown us since being in office. I liked him enough to vote for him so don't misinterpret my opinion of him as just not liking him or because he has done something to me or my family cause that is just not the case. I have never had a speeding ticket to date and don't intend on getting one. The man is out of control with his authority. I would love to have a Sheriff who was tough and showed no favoritism but that is not what he is. He doesn't even respect anyones opinion but his own. That would be ok if he were the Sheriff of his home or what not but he works FOR the PEOPLE and he acts like we work for him. These men and women who work for him are only trying to earn a living and support families. Some of them have been in that particular agency for a long time and don't want to lose the time they have invested but they also want to enjoy doing a job that most people are not made out to do. If you can't enjoy working a job then I truly believe you don't do it to the best of your ability. When I hear of things like this man firing people because they are working a second job at an agency where JB does not get along with the head of that agency then I am worried about my own safety. If he doesn't focus on anything but himself and what he wants then where do we and our loved ones stand? To the person who said he was lonely at the top, you are the ones who are enabling this man to rule the way he does. Whats in it for you I have to ask?

I like the sheriff and nobody is perfect.
I think for the most part people are blasting him anonymously in fear of repercussions against them or family. I for one have a relative that works for him and there is no way I would put their position at risk! We don't have a newspaper business to suck up to.

I understand where most of you are coming from for I have personally seen J.B. in action with not only other agencies, but with the public. The reason why most people dont come foreward is he wuold just have them locked up for he has made this statement. Most people who work for him are in fear for their livelyhoods. Just ask the next time you go to the Sheriffs Office how many top ranking officers he has been through for speaking their mind.

I have noted, maybe I am wrong, but the post bashing the sheriff, appear to be the same 5 people, over and over. I get this from they way they write their post.
They are all similar, though some are long and some are small, but the acid appears to be the same.
A large number of the statements appear to be hearsay, and not fact, nor has there been fact to back up the majority of the posts.
I don't know about this post but I do know there are more than 5 people in this county who disagree with the actions of our sheriff. Go see for yourself. Ask around to the employees out there and get your facts yourself. I doubt you will hear too many wonderful things.
I think some people need to grow some balls and talk to the sheriff face to face. If the employess have been harassed and treated unfairly then I am sure there is some course of action they can take. If some of the rummors are true then they need to get a good laywer. Once the county gets tired of being suied them maybe something will be done. But that wont happen cause they are too afraid of loosing their jobs.
When he took office he made every employee give him a letter of resignation and then a resume for those wanting to stay so that he could basically rehire those he wanted.Then you had to sign a statement acknowleging that you worked at the will of the sheriff and that you could be fired at any time for any reason.That is why employees are afraid to speak out it is like working for a dictator.
