the lamar countians among the 430 employees at nacom in griffin who are losing their jobs to mexicans.
the plant wil close in 2008 and the company is moving that operation to durango, mexico.
a subsidiary of the yazaki corp. of japan, nacom opened in griffin to meet the american auto industry’s demand for junction blocks and body electronics. the 450,000-sq.-ft., vertically integrated facility houses plastic injection molding, electronic printed circuit board assemblies, junction box assemblies and metal stamping. much of the plant runs around the clock; the injection molding section alone produces some 4 million parts per month.

Here are some bits of information we my not be aware of. Over the last year 400 plus companies have moved out of Georgia to Mexico or offshore. The reason, lower wages. In China people work for $1 a day. Mexico they are better paid $1 to $2 an hour. Shipping from Mexico to the US is cheaper than from China in most cases. Our major appliance manufacturers are in Mexico.
Our state has spent millions of our tax payer dollers to attract foreign business in addition to tax incentives. Kia etc.
We have asked the state of Georgia for a $50,000 grant, to study what we need to do to retain industry in the state and were turned down.
This is an outrage that should make front page news.
When are going to wake up and take care of our domestic workers?
Unless we do something Manufacturing as we know it today is doomed in the US.
you can thank the UNIONS for another company going overseas
He admits he wasn't perfect. Far from it. He drank. He smoked pot. He'd been sexually active since he was 13,you play you pay, sounds to like some jock sniffer just wants to let someone out of jail because he can play sports
The one thing we need to address. Can we defend ourselves without manufacturing and depending on other countries to supply us. I doubt it.
ANY AMERICAN OWNED COUNTRY WHO TAKES THEIR BUSINESS TO ANOTHER COUNTRY SHOULD HAVE THEIR PRODUCTS BANNED FROM EVEN ENTERING THE COUNTRY.
He was just practicing for when he gets to the NFL where this is standard behavior.
Why is this being used for a forum for a person who never obtained self control and has come to have to pay for the errors of his ways.
Why does he need me to plead for him?
If you disagree with Cameron Frye/Jackie Treehorn you are in his eyes a fool. Just ignore him, or better yet, ask him to use his real name and sometimes he goes away. We dont need you to tell us what to look up. Why dont you discover girls, get a job, grow up, get a life.
HAVE YOU EVER HEARD THE TERM "JAIL BAIT?" SHE WAS UNDERAGE. CANT YOU UNDERSTAND THAT?
Cameron Frye,
Thanks for the link I will be blogging about this and passing the link on and will write a letter to the Douglas Co. D.A.
I agree that this is a travesty and needs to be rectified. This young man should not be in jail for doing something that most teenagers do!
In regards to the NACOM thing--NAFTA! Remember, Clinton signed it into law, but it was Bush Sr.'s brainchild.
It's a sad thing, but the only way that this will end is that we stop buying foreign goods. However, I don't see that happening anytime soon. After all,we all flock to Wal-Mart to purchase those cheap goods---mostly maufactored in China or Mexico.
frye - sounds like someone got to you and I don't mean with a feather. Its just water on a ducks back. Stick to the topic and forget the comebacks. They aren't worth it.
WHEN I WAS 24 YEARS OLD I HAD BETTER THINGS TO DO WITH MY TIME THAN GETTING A BUNCH OF PEOPLE TICKED OFF. COME ON, CAMERON, DONT YOU THINK PEOPLE HAVE MORE THINGS AROUND HERE TO WORRY ABOUT. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT THE PEOPLE FROM LAMAR COUNTY WHO LOST THEIR JOBS. HOWEVER, AFTER READING YOUR COMMENTS OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS I FOUND OUT YOU REALLY DONT GIVE A DAMN HOW MANY PEOPLE GET HURT. JUST AS LONG AS YOU GET YOUR LONG WINDED COMMENTS ON THE BLOG. WE DIDNT SEE YOU CRYING ABOUT THE DISADVANTAGES FLORIDA ROCK WILL BRING. JUST THE OPPOSITE. THERE WAS NO LAW THAT COULD KEEP THEM OUT SO AS LONG AS THEY DIDNT BREAK ANY LAWS THEY WERE WELCOME TO COME IN. THIS YOUNG MAN DID BREAK THE LAW, EVEN IF IT WAS A LAW THAT PROBABLY GETS BROKE THOUSANDS OF TIMES EVERY WEEKEND. IT IS STILL THE LAW. GET OVER IT.
I thought this was regarding a company laying off workers, not a forum for something that deals with an entirely different subject.
Cameronfrye you have something you wish to work for, but dont cram it down our throats, we may wish to speak of other things. I say this because you have put this on other blogs, that it doesnt pertain to the subject. When people do this I get the impression they are a bit self centered, and could care less about what I think.
somebody stick a sock in cameron frye!!!
Cameron dont care as long as he gets his point in. This space was supposed to be about the poor folks who are gonna lose their jobs and he wants to do is force his views on everybody. Go to his profile page. How does he expect anybody to take him seriously.
I HAVE AN IDEA WHO CAMERON IS AND IF I AM RIGHT HE JUST FELL OFF HIS SKATE BOARD TOO MUCH WHEN HE WAS YOUNGER.
Cameron, what part of NO dont you understand? We are tired of your endless dissertation that doesnt pertain to what we are talking about. If you want people to respond to your gripe, to their representative, purchase an ad in the Atlanta Journal/Constitution, you will get good coverage. Also, with what the AJC charges for an ad
we will then see how serious you are.
Now is a hell of a time to get upset over this NAFTA. Bill Clinton got Newt Gincrich when he was speaker of the house to rally his republicians together and pass the NAFTA. This was done and you see what a mess it has made of our "Great Nation". To top it off, Mrs. Bill Clinton now wants to be president. Each year, the Republician National Party calls me for a donation and I bring up the subject of NAFTA and they agree with me that it needs to be repealed; but nothing is done, so I tell the Republician National Committee to call me for a donation when this damn law has been repealed an not before.
Don't get mad now just because it has hit close to home, this damn bill has been a sore spot on our rear end ever since it was passed.
Get the damn law repealed.
I agree NAFTA should be repealed.
I also believe a company that moves its manufacturing facility out of the US should lose their tax advantages.
