signature community documents signed...

mike beatty (right) commissioner of the georga department of community affairs was here this afternoon to initiate agreements with barnesville mayor dewaine bell (left) which will include barnesville in dca's signature community program.

"this is a big deal. we reward you. we recognize you," beatty told the crowd.

bell reported beatty told him his first visit to barnesville 'took his breath away'.

"madison is a nice town but it doesn't have anything on barnesville," added beatty, a native of jefferson in jackson county.

for details on the signature community program and the multiple benefits for barnesville, see this week's print edition of the herald-gazette.

Let's see. What's Bell thinking?

I don't know how to tell this guy that I am only a figure head and that I don't really have any say about what goes on in Barnesville. Where's KR? Sure hope he don't get mad.

Beatty blows some blue smoke with the statement "Barnesville took my breath away" Bet he tells every city mayor the same thing. I wonder if you followed his tracks every local paper would say the same thing.

To lie is to have job security. Typical politics. I bet more things would get accomplished if people would say their mind rather than telling people what they want to hear
