should georgia, its cities and counties ban pit bulls...
here is an interesting take on the subject from columnist phil dodson of the macon telegraph.
The county needs to get real and make people license their dogs. Then if a pit bull or any other rednecks or bloods rotten mutt runs loose, it will go to puppy jail.
Then make the owner pay a fine to get it back. If it doesn't have a license, it can't leave until it gets shots and a license.
That would get rid of most of the problems.
Most of the problems are ignorant people who just let dogs run.
Georgia or no other state shouldn't be able to tell me what I can own thats what wrong with this Country today. What we should do is hold owners accountable for any type loose dog and that would fix all dog bite problems.

I agree. I have seen pit bulls lick people and then they attack them. One Pit Bull licked a little girl and nuzzled up to her, and then without any reason attacked here and killed her.
Dogs should be confined or the por the owner should be liable on the very first bite or attack.
Also Lamar county needs to force people to get their dogs rabies shots or pay a fine, or lose the dogs. There is too much of this dogs running loose stuff.
If a pit bull moves into your neighborhood, season a bloody steak with rat poison and inject with antifreeze and give it to the dog the first time you see it roaming freely. Make sure you never tell a soul though, not even your closest neighborhood friend. I have personally seen the destructive force of these dogs and they have no place in our society. Kill them all.

I have owned and loved a pit. They can be very good dogs. I now own a Dalmation and a Yellow Lab. I have had some problems with my neighbors over them. I live in the county so there is no leash law. But I did have to put a shock collar system on them to keep them in my yard. So to me it doesn't matter what kind of dog you own someone is going to complain!!

And the people who raised him did not raise him that way. So it's not just the pit. It can be any dog. Even a rabbit will bite. So Are we Just suppose to shoot every animal that lives?
