No money for a drafting class, yet the school system has the money (with the help of stealing from the county taxpayers ag money) to move a ball staium from a good place to another place.
Bottom of the barrel in producing useful employment skills, and the poor schools hurt the values of property in this county. But they have money and time for fleeting feel-good-for-the-moment "improvements".
I agree we need desperately to improve the curriculum of the High School, Middle School connections classes, and better equipped special ed programs. I talked to the super recently about my child's special ed diagnosis and the needs within our system for him that we do not have. He was busy talking about the lunchroom at the highschool and the football field and, suggested I talk to someone else...he did not have an answer. Isn't he the one that makes decisions. I don't understand!?
Yeah we really need a drafting class. What do those people do? Draw plans for houses? Do you realize how many new subdivisions we have sitting full of empty houses in this county? Football stadiums are never empty on Sunday afternoons and never will be.
Ok...let me get this straight... nobody wants to help kids stay in school through sports? I agree that we need better teaching, supplies, education, etc.. but.. WHY cant we have both? I earned a degree in college, I have a great job, and I am contributing to society. But when I was a kid, SPORTS kept me pressing forward in school. We had to have a certain GPA in order to play sports!
I understand that we need more in our education system, but I also believe we need to give these kids a "proud" place to play. Lamar's TRACK team has NEVER had a HOME meet? Why? THERE'S NO PLACE TO HAVE IT! That says "Were proud of you!"
I believe we do have a drafting class, I know we used to. Some people wouldn't be fulfilled unless you had something to bit** about. Most of you doing the bit**ing are probably some of these sorry a$$ parents who expect the school system to raise your kids for you. I have news for you, the school system didn't have them and its not their job to raise them. We have plenty of great students ( who excel in both athletics & academics ) in our public school system. I know a lot of them personally. I understand our school system could improve, but name me one school that couldn't stand to improve.
Maybe it will make it easier for the counsellors to screw up the students schedules...I mean they couldnt get it right in the first place and now they have done gone and made changes....they will really be confused now.

We should have both but this is a small town and money is tight sometimes. Now if we could fill all these houses in all these subdivisions around here we would have a good bit more money, wouldn't we? Not likely to happen in this market though, huh?
6:57, haha well actually my daughter (who attends the HS and just walked in the door) just told me the drafting class got brand new computers! Does that sound like its being dropped? Maybe someone better tell poor Mr Harvey he keeps hanging out in the classroom teaching those students who wander in every period!

Must be Larry the Cable Guy posting that dumb stuff. Hey Larry, that cable you install was planned in part by a person who took drafting. So is the van you drive to install the cable. So is the railroad you cross, and the street you drive on. The gas you put in your cable van comes from pipelines that had a draftsman, and the surveyor that did the property of the house you are driving to took drafting.
No wonder we have to pay the Communist Chinese to come here. We have Larry the Cable Guy planning our future skills in the highly rated top-notch school system.
But hey, we have a freaking new stadium for some kids who think they might be the next OJ Simpson or Michael Vic.
I wouldn't be so quick to blame the construction of the new stadium and auditorium on the drafting dept woes. More than likely, the technology dept is being dropped in order to fund the additional academic classes required because LCCH yet again failed to make AYP.
Thanks fer straightenin me out on what draftin is all about. I thought it was what the army did when they need more men or what the NFL does in the spring when they need more players. I was wonderin why in the heck they would teach that in school but now, thanks to your insight, I know better. Maybe we can let them school kids draft the plans fer the new football areana.
be sure you always wear a trojan larry. we don't need any more iq less than 50 kids in lcchs. the school is already bad enough and turns out enough dummys.

Education is last. Keeping a bunch of kids in school because of sports while not having training for the real world is the goal.
