Has anyone else besides me noticed that the majority of care givers are obese and smoke? What kind of message is that sending out to people who have heart attacks or emphysemal. They need to set the example. People is this profession should be required to be non-smokers and within the guidelines of the recommended height/weight ratio. It's kind of like the preacher in the pulpit speaking against the evils of alcohol and then he is seen in a restaurant having a beer with his lunch. Just a bit hypocritical, don't you think? Can I get a witness?

As a citizen of Lamar County, I am still disappointed with the way the whole situation went down over the Care Ambulance and County Commission meeting. What the other citizens don't realize is that there is another underlying problem as to what had happened. There are some county employees (I know who they are) that have a hidden agenda to bring in the counties own EMS service. These same people work for Mid-GA now and are going to do the same thing as they did to CARE. Mid-GA probably won't be here a year or two before we are right back in the boat, discussing the same thing again. Our tax base cannot cover starting its own service from scratch right now. EMS is not a money making business its just the opposite. If the county commission decided to put in place its own EMS service, the property taxes would be raised along with anything else that be taxed too. I'm not against the idea, but I am against raising the taxes. Why do you think the commission voted down putting additional paid fire fighters in the county which I believe the figure was around $90,000. The county couldn't afford it. I'm sure there will be someone commenting to this post. Really, I could CARE-less if there is or not.

10:56 if EMS was not a money making making buisness then why is middle ga,care, amr, and the hundred other EMS services in business if not to make money?Care was making pretty good money because they were paying there employes top dollar for this area. care loosing the contract had nothing to do with a hidden agenda by county employes. they(care)lost it all by them selves. I would say it was lack of, no nonexistence management that did them under with a little help in a few other areas.
