okay the speeders thing is STUPID! how can someone properly gauge speeding and i would love for some half-brained cop to pull me over because they received a tip that i was "speeding"!
Reporting litter is one thing if it will stick in court. Speeders is quite another because very few people can accurately guess speed.
Squeeling tires is easy to tell. Loud music is easy to tell. Crossing the center line on curves is easy to tell. Running stop signs is easy to tell.
But if someone is going 35 or 40 in a 25, most people would never have a clue.
If Banks wants speeding enforced, or stop signs, or left of center, or DUI, the cops have to patrol and watch. People can call in tags until they have bloody fingers and all it will do is tie up the police phone lines.
Banks should have the Barnesville PD watch for violations. Not do something silly like ask people to call in tags.
While they are at it get those stupid kids off the golf carts and get the carts out of traffic and on the sidewalks...or make them get license plates and insurance. If people want to use them as cars they should help pay for the roads and have insurance and licenses.

One major eyesore in Barnesville is the tire place across from Giant Mart. Old tires and car parts marr one of the main streets here in our city. I am hoping the council will have the courage to do something about this one and for all.

A few more sidewalks, and we'll see more people walking as well as using golf carts on our safe streets as a means of transportation.
Barnesville is small enough now to be a leading example of what a perfect community should represent, and we have mayor who can and will work to make this happen.

reporting someone for litter can not hold up in court b/c the person reporting is not a sworn official of the law. You can not be issued a ticket b/c you are reported. This is a big mistake that Mr. Banks has made in his few short days in office. Here's an idea. Instead of letting the crooks and felons sit in our jails lets make good use of them in our city. Put them in chains and pick up litter. Put the chain gang back out on the streets and let them clean the streets up and earn their 12 odd cents per day that we pay as well as room and board. Do something good for the city instead of trying to increase revenues by assinine fines of $1000.00!!!! Who in Barnesville could ever afford that besides a matthews and a few others....Yes we know you probably could as well Watler, but you would be very pissed as well and I'm guessing it would probably be waived like it would if Jay got a ticket as well for it considering he is one of the good ole boys with money and daddy was the big man in town for so long.

If our mayor really wants to stop littering, just follow the garbage truck as they get about as much in the truck and they leave behind in the streets. Give them a ticket or two and the litter will vanish.
