This whole story is just strange. Only in Georgia is there a zebra on the side of the interstate.
It probably got out from Noah's Ark...it's not far from Lamar or I-75. He's real good at wanting to say people are guilty of a crime right off the bat. He'll probably want to send them to prison.
Noah's Ark must be where it came from! That is such a wonderful place! Has anyone checked with them?
Try no keep up folks. The zebra was treated for his injuries and then taken to Noah's Ark where he is now residing. He did not escape from Noah's Ark. Focus people...focus.
What does no keep up mean? Focus 3:51...The zebra is still in intensive care at the Auburn vet School. He will live at Noah's Ark when he is well.
You've got that right, these people can't read. They must have scored pretty low on reading comprehension tests.
I think it would be a crime to abandon a Zebra on a highway. Someone has to know it is missing. Maybe Princess knows.
Ok Walter 7:08 is bashing a local politician where's the DELETE button take it off!
Oh stop being silly. Bad enough Walter is so paranoid. Don't encourage it.
The zebra has been released from intensive care and is now at Noah's Ark. 6:18, I know life comes at you fast. Please try to keep up.
Okay Walter let me revise my comment, you can tell it is election year, when the DA is going to prosecute for this and not family violance.
We need a DA that is going to do his job all the time not just election time.
HotCop
I don't understand why we suddenly have a policy of not being allowed to tell the truth about people who do a sorry job when there are facts or statistics that prove the point. Why is that?
This is obvious discrimination! What if a dog or a cat were found on the side of I75. Would the dog or cat get the same attention?!
How do we know it wasn't a dog, painted to look like a zebra...
Walter, what happened to the post about our new coach?
Don't you think Noah's Ark would be the first place they would ask. I'm pretty sure that if Noah's Ark had lost the zebra people would know by now. I think it's great that the D.A. is willing to stand up against animal neglect. And that "dumb ass" comment should be deleted because it's unoriginal and rude. I can't believe Water wouldn't have deleted that already.
I am sure that 12:35 would have left his name, Why not just hide under anonymous.
okay the truth is the truth, when a DA will pick and choose what cases he will try. He is not for the people, he took a oath that he would serve all the people of this county, and not pick which one.
If it is a good case then take it to court, not let's make a deal because you are scared of court. I don't think there is a case that our DA can't win, I have heard him in court and I think he did a great job, but I can not understand why he will pick which cases he will try. Mr. DA, take them all to court and let the people be the jury, serve us all, not just a few.
Speaking of picking and choosing cases what about the missing money at the S O?and from what I hear they know who did it.
I think it's good that Walter takes the time to work the blog for everyone to comment. However, I do think he "you" show favoritism to some people "your political buddies". Public politicians should be fair game. If they aren't any good then the people should be allowed to express how they feel and why. I can understand deleting foul language. But Walter, in my opinion you carry suppression of free speech to far as judge, jury, and executioner of the people's opinions. Election time is the perfect time to allow good and bad comments.
From what I hear, it's a whole bunch of nothing.
EXACTLY 3:14
To be honest I'm more concerned about the local politicians and what's going on right here at home more so than in Washington but the only ones that I can express my true opinion about and tell my neighbors about are the ones in Washington. The local politicians are no different than the rest when it comes to public opinion and criticism and they know and accept it as part of the job when they run for public office. So if they can't stand the heat when they screw up and make unpopular decisions then they should get out of the kitchen.
It's understandable why this occurs.
The real difference is the pressure local $$$$ puts on. This is the same thing that controls that other online webloid.
Editors have to select stories based on how it affects the bottom line. Like it or not it has to be about the money because that is how people stay in business. They aren't there for our information or good health. It is a paying job.
This is what causes people to have selective news. It affects any for pay "news service".
If you want a blog or chat that covers everything it can't be connected with advertising. The minute that starts it has to be censored. So live with it or start your own.
6:06AM - That kind of sounds like Walter. Are you commenting under anonymous?
What you said does make sense.
If it's truely about money, and money censors the free expression of people's thoughts, then the blog should be terminated.
I enjoy reading and commenting, but would prefer to see it go away than to have people that's spending money making rules on free speech in Barnesville. I'd bet that I'm not alone either.
It sort of takes away from what America is suppose to be about and where America is going now.
ya'll will have to find another conspiracy theory. i did not make the anonymous post. as for the football coach post, it walked around the edges of decency. i was out of the office friday and a post was made that was questionable.
the herald-gazette staff made the decision to kill the entire post. once it was dead, i had no way to go back and review it.
as i have said before, i am not going to referee praise and abuse of local political candidates/incumbents. as we have seen here before, this often spreads to attacks on spouses and children of candidates and incumbents.
that is the way it is going to be! deal with it however you see fit.
Just some researched bits of information that was interesting to me.
From Wikipedia:
Freedom of speech is crucial in any participatory democracy, because open discussions of candidates are essential for voters to make informed decisions during elections. It is through speech that people can influence their government's choice of policies. Also, public officials are held accountable through criticisms that can pave the way for their replacement.
I really liked the next one.
From: Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy
• John Stuart Mill's Harm Principle
• If all mankind minus one were of one opinion, and only one person were of the contrary opinion, mankind would be no more justified in silencing that one person than he, if he had the power, would be justified in silencing mankind.
i vote you boot gmac off the blog and let him go someplace else that makes him happier. gmac if you know so much why dont you open your own blog. lets see you actuially do somethingbeside talk
I ain't so polite 608 so I vote you kiss my a$$
Hello 6:08. Thank you for your opinion. I loved your cowardly approach to making it. (Anonymous) My comment was for Walter. He may or may not have liked it but, I'll bet he enjoys knowing where it come from. I notice he did reply. Oh my! Unlike you, he used a name.
PS The best advice I have for you is if you don't like what I have to say then don't read it. Oh never mind. I have no room to talk. I use anonymous every now and then too. But let me tell you if I offended you in any way - I do apologize.
Thanks for the explanation Walter, and I have to agree with your decision, I would not want to see a post turn negative on the new coach. We are very excited to have him and look forward to next season!
Why are we worried about this zebra? We have so many of our own here in Barnesville sitting on the side of the road, partaking of grass, frolicking in traffic, needing medical care, and showing their tails? -confused-
Was'nt this post about the Zebra? I was under the impression from the news that it was not abandoned on the interstate. It fell off a truck and then was hit by a car. It is now being cared for. Is'nt that the correct story or was the local news wrong???
If you really want to know how the baby zebra is doing, go to the Noah's Ark website at www.noahs-ark.org. You can also read about all the wonderful work they do there with abused children AND animals.
in breeding in lamar co wont ever happen lots of zebras at ingles looks like a safari in that store and its getting larger
Good to get some other genes mixed with the redneck pool. Itll stop people from peeing off their porches and beating their wives and dogs with sticks.
