I say no to Hillary as a V.P. Obama/Edwards would be the perfect ticket.
more liberal votes in lamar than even i thought....days since mission accomplished 1741, days until mr. bush departs 349......elections have consequences, capitalism has its price......do we participatein a politics of cynicism or a politics of hope......
I'm glad so many people showed up to vote.
McCain/Huckabee would be a stud Republican ticket (according to the votes) but I still have many problems with McCain.
I would rather see Romney as the next Prez. over McCain.
I'm still a Ron Paul fan even though it won't happen this time.
I wouldn't vote for them but Obama/Edwards would be a better duo than Hussein/Hildabeast.
I'm glad to see the FairTax getting some more airtime. I wish it would stay in the spotlight all year.
Capitalism drives America. Hope drives a Le-Sabre with low compression and a slippin tranny.

Just out of curiosity, I would like to see the statistics associated with today’s primary pertaining to the time period in which the majority of each party’s votes were cast. As I was at my polling place early this morning (7:30 AM) I noticed that perhaps two dozen forms had been completed and placed neatly in a pile on the Republican side. The Democratic side had not a single vote at this time. This seemed strange to me and made me wonder what would be behind such a trend.
This is just a theory but I submit, for your consideration, my thoughts. Why would anyone be up and out so early voting unless they had another reason for being up and out? What could this reason be? My guess is that these people had jobs to which they must arrive early in the morning. I would say that these are hardworking people that don’t have the luxury of sleeping in late. These are people who are not living off the system but rather contributing to and supporting the system. These are people who are tired of the Democrats and their “entitlement” programs.
I agree with that ^ there.

could it be that the democracts were the ones who are the professors, teachers, nurses, doctors, etc who work early but vote in pm after work....also the voters who work nights and had to sleep this am and voted this pm..........another thing to look at is that in ark, ala, mo, tennessee, and ga, there were more democractic votes cast than republicans.......then if you add in the liberal votes of john mccain....you have to see the liberal voice is being heard.....doing my best to make myself believe:: yes we can...
doesnt look like the right wing assinine idea of a picture id slowed down the democractic vote.....they may have to try harder....when the going get weird, the weird goes republican
Ok, party is over, as a poll worker could someone tell me the function of our esteemed board? It was evident yesterday that it has taken an entire village to replace one Kathy Martin. It is NOT the responsibilty of the poll worker to train the new people. We have a registra, she needs to train these people BEFORE they go to work.
Did Walter get any votes?
voice...you're ignorant. I voted for Hillary last Thursday so I wouldn't have to stand in line with the likes of you!
If Obama or Hillary get elected.. you can just say goodbye America!
They only care about the sorry you know whos that won't get a job thatdraw welfare and sit on their butts that we tax payers have to support.
RIDICULOUS
We can already say goodby to American thanks to the idiots who elected Bush.
to 9:35......does your boss know you are blogging while you work....since youre a taxpayer, i assume you do work, or do you just supervise a bunch of illegals
id like to see teddy k take both broomhilda AND obammy for a late night ride
Well if the Clinton Administration had done such an excellent job, wouldn't we have the heir to the throne Gore? It didn't take a whole lot to elect Bush for two terms considering his competition. Under the Clinton Admin. the stock market hit full stride for two reasons- Republican Congress, Dot Com boom. Bush inherited a surplus thanks to fiscal responsibility on the part of congress (Clinton would not give in to the Balanced Budget Act), and then the Republican congress under Bush blew it to hell!! (No Shame In My Game, truth has no party affiliation) Under our current Socialist Democrat congress we have managed to accomplish nothing except for further blinding our citizens to the horrors of wealth envy, race politics, and bottomless pit social programs.
I love how they refer to the Republicans "Fear Tactics" without admitting that they have inflated the "People Without Health Care" statistics into making the nation believe we are all on our physical and economic death beds. The Global Warming scare has over extended itself and cannot be back tracked on or found to be fact driven, so it is skillfully being phased out of the media slowly but surely but the damage has been done because this has been crammed down the throat of Socialism's most innocent victims, SCHOOL CHILDREN!
Just to think that America could possibly maintain its promise of prosperity through freedom and the free market and pulling yourself up by the bootstraps to rise from poverty, or any setback, by applying Socialism and blurring the blessings of Capitalism is nothing more than Fiction.
Some of our current economic woes can be attributed to the "Home Mortgage Crisis", which is a perfect example of the "everybody deserves everything equally without common sense policies" approach to the "free market". When we are all equally broke they will be satisfied.

People have short memories. Gore, as bad as he was, actually received more votes than Bush. That shows you what a sorry President Bush was.
Bush was appointed not elected. He was the third in history to be appointed. He actually didn't even beat Gore, and that is a loud shout how poor he really was. Keep that in mind.
People know we are in trouble. They know the wheels are falling off this country. It really started in the 70's and 80's when we started giving our manufacturing away. Clinton accelerated it with NAFTA and other poor trade agreements. Bush drove the nail in our coffin with a sledge hammer.
Just to understand how deperate we are getting, look at this fair tax nonsense. A few people actually think we can decrease taxes and not hurt the economy by creating a national sales tax. The rationale behind it is a state sales tax of 7% (in conjuctuion with many other taxes) sort of works.
It's all common sense people. Get your heads out of your rear ends for ten minutes and use that moldy under-used brain God gave you.
Our country need money to fund the wars Bush started. That takes taxes. our country needs money for services like the infrastructure that is falling apart from neglect. That takes money.
No matter how the tax is distributed it is going to take a certain percentage of the entire gross national product to find that stuff. There isn't any way around it. No matter what we do we need more taxes for everyone. Less will never work unless we bail out of Iraq, stop buying Chinese stuff, stop having illegals ship cash out of the country while not paying tax and using our service, stop buying so much foreign oil. We must stop shipping money out of the country.
Until we do that nothing we do will help. We can't lower taxes.
Also use that cobweb loaded brain for a second and think about what a sales tax will do. The way you reduce taxes is you STOP buying things. You stop buying cars, food, services, appliances, houses, boats, lamps, bibles, porn, and everything else that causes cash to change hands. Even businesses and Government would have to pay sales tax to keep the rate at 30% or so.
What kind of mind thinks a sales-only tax would be good? The government still needs the same money. We will suck up just as much oil, and just as many Mexicans will ship the cash out to Mexico while using our services. We will have the same or more people on welfare.
You've been played by the Government. You've been duped into thinking the solution is doing more of what we are already doing wrong. The gun our leaders hold on the head of America isn't bad enough, you want to drop the hammer.
Ron Paul what a joke!! LOL LOL LOL
Everyone wants to blame a single individual.
The blame belongs to the people that did the electing in the first place. Perhaps what we need is a better method for the people to "FIRE" a poor performer.
Impeachment is not the answer because that requires the use of loyal politicians whose loyalties may be in the wrong place.
Goverment should fear the people and when the people are capable of holding elected officials accountable, we will have better government. The people should have similar power that a Board of Directors would have over their company. A B.O.D. is not going to wait for a person to ruin a company before the board takes action. The people shouldn't have to allow a person to ruin a country before they are able to take action either.
In all honesty, I just don't think America can come back from the disaster economically that the recent Presidents, Congress and the Senate have put us. We, as Americans, need to do some serious soul searching if we don't want this country to go the way of Rome. It's sad that we have allowed the oligarchy to divide us into two parties which are only different by name.
yall calm down....just remember that we got good times acoming...be it obama, hillary or john mccain.....we have broken the strangle hold the conservatives have had for 7 long terrible yrs...jan 20,2009 cant come soon enough.....conservatism must be rejected, resisted and defeated....remember not a cent to those who wont foght torture
liberleft you run your mouth so much why dont you tell so exactly what you stand for. maybe we have some say about it. or are you scared to say it cause you all mouth.
Ok liberleft, perhaps you have a point, but I seriously doubt it. The vast majority of jobs are of the 9 to 5 variety. Hence, the 7 AM to 7 PM poll hours to allow working voters time before and after work to vote; two hours before work and two hours after. Or did you think they just pulled 7 to 7 out of the air? As I clearly stated, I would like to see the statistics to see if a pattern truly does exist. I believe it does. I believe it will show the majority of Democrats voting during working hours.
As to your pointless point that more Democrats voted than Republicans, no one is disputing that. In fact, Obama himself said that they were successful in getting more voters out to the polls. His actual words were, more “first time voters”. My question to you then is this, why have these people never voted before and just now decided to? Is it because they think they can bring about real change? Not really. Is it because they are tired of the way things are? Perhaps. Let’s not lie to ourselves. The real reason they came out is because they see a chance to elect the first woman or black to be president. They did it because they don’t work and they sit at home all day and watch and listen to Oprah tell them how to think and vote.
That is what is truly wrong with America. We hardworking Americans live in the real world where we go to work each day so that we can pay taxes to support the lazy ones sitting at home living in their fantasy worlds watching All My Children and Jerry Springer. When will we see that the farther left we allow things to swing the worse things are getting. It is also no coincidence that conservatives are considered to be on the “right”.
So that leads me to the national sales tax or fair tax as some have more appropriately named it. No one is saying it is perfect but it is certainly better than what we have now. It allows the tax burden to be shared by all. I think we all understand that the government requires money to operate, anonymous. So what’s your point? If you want to explain something, explain to me how a system that makes me pay more taxes because I make more money is fair. I go out and work harder or get an education so I can get a better job so I can make more money and I am penalized for doing so. While I could just be a lazy bum and live off welfare (and I am not saying all people on welfare are lazy bums, just saying that there are lazy bums on welfare) and pay no income tax. Or on the other end of the spectrum, how is fair that you can get so rich that you can work around the tax laws and not pay your fair share. That leaves the middle class to pay the lion’s share of the taxes. A national sales tax levels the playing field. We all buy goods and services and therefore could not avoid paying the tax. The idea that people would stop spending money is asinine. What good is money if you don’t spend it? We also spend in relation to the amount we have and therefore would pay a fair share. Even drug dealers that certainly don't pay income tax would have to pay when they buy their fancy cars, gold watches and big homes.
The lazy bums and the rich don’t want this for obvious reasons. The Democrats and the Republicans won’t do it because they are afraid of losing those voters. It would also mean less government and government involvement in our lives and they certainly aren’t going to put themselves out of a job.
I'm not going to argue for eternity with you about this but probably close to it. We have different opinions and I accept that.
I believe that tax cuts increase Fed revenue and capital investment but the must-have- in the equation is spending cuts, anyway else would be all for nothing.
And moving forward,
I believe that the FairTax will bring business back to our shores and make our exports more competitive.
I do understand the "revenue neutral" statement in the FairTax book and legislation of HR 25 and do not expect it to cure Cancer, HIV, Welfare, Pork Barrel Spending or personal debt but will result in more savings for retirement per person over time and increase our over all standard of living.
I believe that all people living on American soil should pay into our tax system and our current tax code cannot produce this.
I love the idea of our Federal Government not being able to confiscate taxes without our approval and people being able to keep a close eye on how much they actually pay our government for the crappy job they do.
I agree that we will have to pay our way out of our current deficit, it will not magically disappear.
And on that note, I believe that increasing taxes is just a temporary fix that has it's own setbacks. Reduced taxes with reduced spending will have a surplus as an end result times infinity.
It would be nice if all this unnecessary spending would be cut out, (good luck on that one).
We've paid too much to too many for too long on the welfare payroll and their hours are great with many vacation days, 365 last time I checked. Damn near impossible to get fired.
I would love to see our government shaking in their boots at the thought of an unhappy America sitting on their wallets/Fed funds.
Under the FairTax this is possible.
Under our current system HONEST men & women would have to starve themselves (by not working) to starve the government of their funds.

And Ron Paul has great ideas and foresight. If you would research him just a little you would see how much of a nut he is not.
Not that you actually would.

Will all of the fair tax people please answer a question for me. I can't seem to find it anywhere. How do you plan to implement the fair tax. You can just say on January 1 we will go to the fair tax. That would wreck the housing, automobile and any other large ticket item market. Not to mention everything on store shelves would purchased before the implementation would now be double taxed. I do agree that it all sounds good but getting it into place is going to be a huge problem and could completely ruin the nation before it could get going.
Voice of reason,
No I think more people came out to the polls and voted because they are sick of the Bush REGIME. Most of the people that voted probably don't even watch Oprah.
Let's see they've become disillusioned by the billions of dollars being spent in a foreign country for a pointless war. They are sick of domestic programs being cut--lack of schools and substandard education all in favor of "Iraqi Freedom". They are sick of listening to empty promises. They're looking for something different.
i will support the fair tax if all you fair taxers will support the withdrawal from iraq, national healthcare, and agree to punish any employer hiring illegals
if hillary get nomination she will offer it to obama and he will refuse (so he will be more electable next time) So she will pick richardson....if obama wins, he will not offer it to hillary but will pick edwards......mccain will probably pick lindsy gramham from s.c.
Liberleft
I agree that it's time to get out of iraq, but this has to be done tactically. When cant just tuck tail and run. We should have went in full force and the war would have been over five years ago.
National health care suck's! The quallity of doctors will go down and pappa government will only have more control over us.
Anyone hiring illegals should be shot!
what you say about national health care is the same thing they said about medicare when it first started.....but i dont know what we would do with out it tody.....there are alot of us who would love to be covered by medicare right now....if everyone tomorrow woke up and had medicare, how would that make doctors bad....today we have alot of good doctors that dont have enough patients so they end up practicing fringe medicine, just to make a living.....they do diet practice, do cosmetic surgery, do flight physicals, do vitamin-medicine, or do pain medicine.....government control would help.....even the ama is running ads on t v promoting heathcare for all....and on the other topic...why cant we tuck and run.....it is called retreat.....we can call it victory if you want to,,,,just get out....the bad guys wont kill as many iraq people as we are, or as many as we are letting get killed now
As for how the FairTax will be implemented that is very debatable and has no clear cut answer. It varies from a gradual phasing in process to an all out- Jan 1st after the repeal of the 16th amendment- which I believe to be the current idea. If I get some time I will try and find a pin-point explanation on what the days leading up to its GREEN LIGHT would look like. Even an all out process would have months of preparation behind it, we wouldn't be thrown out in the cold all cold and confused.
***
I believe the FairTax to be a complete swap of the current system as far as Fed Revenue (other studies say it falls short with it's 23% inclusive-tax). The FairTax book is a great book that will open your mind to the idea but it will not solve all the questions you will have upon further study (a new book is coming out this month to answer a lot of questions).
I read the FairTax Blog and try to absorb as much as possible (I am not an Economist and do not speak the language but a lot of it is enough plain English to understand) and I would recommend everyone else that is interested to do the same.
The opinions expressed there are very open, some for it some against it, and you will find a lot more info there than any one book.
The FairTax is not perfect as currently proposed and never will be but the more people learn about it the clearer it will become, for or against, and the less we will be taken by surprise by its possible problems or hopefully we will iron out as many as possible. There will be many more debates and figuring that will come, if implemented there will still be debates and figures. Through all of this a decision will be made and I do not want that decision to be made on a whim with America taken by shock and fear resulting in chaos. I am a very pessimistic person by nature but I am very optimistic about this tax reform and the possibilities for a stronger America through it. Our lives will be changed if it is passed so read up.
fairtax.org is a great place for info. and I like to Google "fair tax -and whatever good or bad behind it-" and read. Just read both sides and draw your own conclusion. Hope you end up on my side but if you don't I like to think my posts are fair- no pun intended!

the fair tax is a fairy tale that may sound good but would be a disaster and stands no chance of being implemented in any form.....it is being talked about by the right wing talk media only to take the heat off of the iraq war and the terrible ecomony.....they are trying to get their base to talk about abortion, gay marriage, immigration, and fair tax,,,,,,,,dont want to talk about deficent, war, or bush performance
How could I ever disagree with such a fact based statement? In your mind I'm being indoctrinated by the "Hate Speech" talk radio hosts but you on the other hand must know the real facts because you get your information from the Golden Temple of Truth, Liberal Media.

12:00 am Thank you for the information I look forward to reading and hearing more. This might shock people but I'm a democrat by practice and it does have some things I like yet the implementation is the big deal for me. Also there is now way it could work unless the tax is included in the price you see on the tag. if I buy a two dollar coke under the fair tax I want it to ring up at the register for two dollars. With out that there would be riots in the street over it. Thank you again and I look forward to reading and hearing more
