The real problem with Lamar Co is that they are TOO focused on what students are wearing than teaching. The schools are failing and all they care about is dress code.
Until that is changed nothing is going to help.
I went 71 and 72. It didn't seem to work then but we had other problems. Like how to survive. Race was the big issue not so much gender.
I was there back when we did it in Lamar and it was war to say the least. But, that was due to race mostly.
Crank up the cell phone text. That's what they will learn.
That's OK though because democrats will still be around to give them what they need for nothing.
lizzy, who is worrying more about what they are wearing, the school or the student? If some of these sorry a$$ parents would make sure their kids dress decently that problem would go away. People need to quit blaming the school system for what are mostly parental problems. Schools are failing all over because these sorry a$$ parents expect the school to raise their kids for them.
On the original topic Greene is making a mistake.
The problem with poor performance in schools today is largely with parents, not the mixing of sexes.
They should enforce reasonable dress codes. No one likes to see dirty underwear on a boy trying to act like he just had hot prison sex, or a girl's muffin top (the baby fat that rolls over the belt).
If a school system wants to fix the students they need to fix the parents first. That's where the problem is.
you cant fix something that doesnt think its broke! Parents do NOT think it's their problem, they believe their kids are NOT the problem, after all it a CULTURE thing (Thats what most parents believe) if we start enforcing dress codes or violations, we are invading in CULTURE wars. Then it becomes a RACE issue. I like the uniform Ideas. But most people dont, because it CRAMPS the styles of cultures.
I agree PARENTS are a part of the main issue, but strict enforcement of rules would also do well. I remember a principal (from another state) who had extra large ZIPTIES in his pocket and if your pants sagged he made you a BELT!!
Didnt have a lot of problems after a week of belt making!
Beverly Hillbillies Jethro's rope would make great belt too but that could probably be used as a weapon.
Separating by gender is not going to improve academics. It's been proved many times in many places.
You need committed parents, committed teachers and proper funding.
all the commented parents are sending their kids to private schools.....that is the biggest problem with the public school....it makes for 2 different systems and they are not equal.....just like in the olden days when there were 2 systems, black and white,,,,and they werent equal.....we got civil rights act, put them together, and then the privite schools started popping up and then we see the inequality again.....
There have always been private schools. Gordon was private.
10:38 PM, you mentioned y'all had problems like "how to survive in 71 and 72". Things never change, we had the same damn problems in the 80s and 90s! To make things a better, what the region should do is come up with a prison school. You threaten somebody or you bring a weapon to school then you're but is deported to the region prison school.
How would the prison school be ran? Like a freakin boot camp. The fear of God and the fear of the state would be beat into you.
I would start with that.
I'll go along with that 8:12. Teach them young.
Theres a reason people put there kids in Private schools.... DISCIPLINE, Chapel services, Controled environment. What a concept, these are our rules if you play by them your kids get a good education, if not, your gone.
Trust me, I know that Private schools have their problems, but you dont hear a lot about them in the news

Another reason is they learn spelling. They learn the difference between "there" and "their", how to use contactions, and how to spell controlled.
Kids have access to parents and churches to help them with God. Schools need to concentrate on science, math, history, reading, and writing. The USA is falling behind in all the important areas.
what's a contaction?

Hello POT.... Im a Kettle .... Nice to meet you Mr. Black!
ouch!
"any veterans of that era care to comment?"
Yeah, I had the misfortune to go through that. My fifth grade year I only went to school 28 days the entire time, the first year of gender separation.
With no girls to distract all those raging hormones, you can be sure they'll find other activities to engage in. Like beating the crap out of the other race.
Great idea! Things are a little dull lately.
the same people that say we need prison school to send the unruly students, and punish them......these are the same people who raised heck years ago and had the schools do away with corporal punishment.....parents think it o k to punish some kids, just not their little angels.....
Have not heard from you 10:06 .... you there?
Yeah, I remember those days, no girls around to satisfy my needs, there was nothing but a bunch of gay sex in the bathrooms...those were the days...
did you notice when the piece ran on tv, that all the people that wanted to keep the sexes together were black, and all the people that wanted them separated were white......the whites would really like the races to be separated but they cant all afford privite school, so they will settle for sexual separation.....that way the black boys wont be around their sweet little white princess
THAT WAY THE WHITE KIDS WON'T BE CONTAMINATED BY BLACKY'S IGNORANCE!!!
