michael vick's water bottle incident...

vick was found in possession of a water bottle with a secret compartment that contained apparent marijuana.

vick first drew suspicion after he was reluctant to part with the bottle at the miami airport although bottles containing more than 3 ounces of liquid have been prohibited at u.s. airports for months.

tsa screeners found the alleged pot after vick tossed the bottle in a trash can.

mike vick: gifted athlete, thug or both?

there is apparently no truth to the rumor vick overthrew two wide open trash cans before finally connecting with a third on a great catch by the trash receptacle.

Whether tragic events touch your family personally or are brought into your home via newspapers and television, you can help children cope with the anxiety that violence, death, and disasters can cause.

Listening and talking to children about their concerns can reassure them that they will be safe. Start by encouraging them to discuss how they have been affected by what is happening around them. Even young children may have specific questions about tragedies. Children react to stress at their own developmental level.

The Caring for Every Child's Mental Health Campaign offers these pointers for parents and other caregivers:

* Encourage children to ask questions. Listen to what they say. Provide comfort and assurance that address their specific fears. It's okay to admit you can't answer all of their questions.
* Talk on their level. Communicate with your children in a way they can understand. Don't get too technical or complicated.
* Find out what frightens them. Encourage your children to talk about fears they may have. They may worry that someone will harm them at school or that someone will try to hurt you.
* Focus on the positive. Reinforce the fact that most people are kind and caring. Remind your child of the heroic actions taken by ordinary people to help victims of tragedy.
* Pay attention. Your children's play and drawings may give you a glimpse into their questions or concerns. Ask them to tell you what is going on in the game or the picture. It's an opportunity to clarify any misconceptions, answer questions, and give reassurance.
* Develop a plan. Establish a family emergency plan for the future, such as a meeting place where everyone should gather if something unexpected happens in your family or neighborhood. It can help you and your children feel safer.

If you are concerned about your child's reaction to stress or trauma, call your physician or a community mental health center.

Vick is a thug! He looks like one and acts like one. The Falcons need to get rid of him! Here is another adult setting a fine example for the children that look up to them.

Arthur Blank, in my opinion, deserves alot of the responsibility for Vicks actions. Blank acts as though Vick is the only player on the team. Similar to the attitude of the Smiths, previously. Vick is far from being someone who is setting a wholesome example. The Falcons should trade him and Blank

"Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.), a native of Athens, Ga., voted against a
House of Representatives resolution congratulating the Gators on winning
the BCS national championship.

The resolution, proposed by 20 members of Florida's Congressional
delegation, ranks among thousands of commendations that come before the
House sees each year. Most, including one to recognize Boise State's
undefeated season and Fiesta Bowl victory, pass by a unanimous vote.

But Kingston bucked that trend Thursday. In an interview with espn.com,
he said he cheered for UF in the game but couldn't stomach supporting
them in Congress.

"There's just so far you can go," he told reporter Mark Schlabach. "The
Bulldog tendency in me hit, and I had to vote 'No' in a good, friendly
rivalry."

Go Dawgs!

Who cares about vick? Is anyone really surprised with his actions? If he was a role model for your child, you should be punched in the stomach for bad parenting.

I believe by firing Mora, we cut out our lungs to fight brain cancer. Of course I am under the assumption that the goal of a team is to win, not sale jerseys. Money has blurred the vision and altered the goals of team owners, players, and coaches.

Why was someone worth millions of dollars flying commercial? If he chartered a flight, he would not have to go through security & could take whatever he wanted on board!

Alot of people make excuses, for these persons with alot of money, for their actions. I think these persons, if brought up with an attitude of setting a good wholesome example, would not act this way. It is obvious to me that professional sports no longer insists on setting a wholesome example.

We cannot excuse Professional Sports Players for their arrogance, indifference, and just plain rudeness. The weak excuse they never have been this rich doesnt hold water in my mind. I believe the owners should demand an upstanding image, if they are willing to pay such an outrageous wage. Further even a rich kid, by todays standards is not used to the amount of money being paid these sports players.

Athletes who play games for pay (big pay) and cannot keep their act together should have their jobs (?)taken away. No one should be making millions and acting so irresponsibly.

Anon 4:59 you are so right, they should not be able to keep these high paying jobs without making a positive image.

Based on recent reports, apparently there were no illegal subastances in the water bottle.

I had a feeling that there was no illegal substance in that bottle because there was no statement made by the Falcon front office.
I know they seem like a bunch of fools are running the Falcons; but I do believe they are not going to put up win even the "great Michael Vick" having drugs on him and I thought he would have been arrested and jail in Miami if this was so.

I want Vick gone as much as any Falcon fan; but we will have to await until the "fools in the front office" wakes up and sees there is no gold pot with Vick.

I wonder if Arthur Blank and Vick had to cough up a bunch of money to keep the Miami Police from saying there wasnt anything in the bottle.
