The Sheriff indicated the jail yard was poorly designed. Please explain what needs to be done to prevent this from happening again. Is the wall too low? Razor wire too dull? Should bed sheets not be allowed in yard area? Should a jail guard be present in yard area at all times? More cameras or repair cameras? To simply say jail yard is poorly designed is not good enough to prevent this from happening again. What measures have been taken since escape to prevent further ones?
It obviously took a while for the man to make good his escape. First, stsnd on the shoulders of another inmate. Next, use sheets to pull back the barbed wire. Then crawl down a utility pole. The camera was not operating. Obviously, there was no guard in the yard watching the inmates. Sure, there are flaws. It's not in the structure design....it's called "lack of security."
