I can not believe you would stoop so low Walter. That full page ad in the back of your paper was probably the most distasteful act I have ever seen. You always pride yourself in your paper, but to allow "smut" like that in your paper is horrible. It was bad when BarnesvilleDispatch did it, but I have always held your paper to a higher standard. Its a shame that money can speak so loud. I wish I could say that I will never view your paper again, but with it being the only one for Barnesville I know that wont be true. But I do know I will never respect the history of this paper like I used to.
I didn't see anything wrong with the ad. What smut are you talking about? I thought it was funny. I think it was a great way for whomever to express their Freedom of Speech!
Hurricane HANNA Warming, Hurricane IKE Warming and Tropical Storm JOSEPHINE Watch.
1. Put aside money Have somecash, and carry all your credit cards. Also be sure to get a copy of your homeowner's insurance policy.
2. Plan escape route Have multiple escape rotes and know the proper government evacuation route. Make sure you car's fuel tank is filled and your mobile phone is charged.
3. Plan escape trip Identify ahead of time where you could go if told to evacuate. Choose several places, like a friend's home in another town, a motel or a shelter.
4. Prepare supply kit Assemble a disaster supplies kit Including the following items: * First-aid kit and any essential medications. * Canned food and can opener. * At least three gallons of water per person. * Protective clothing, rainwear and bedding or sleeping bags. * Battery-powered radio, flashlight and extra batteries. * Special items for infants, elderly or disabled family members. * Written instructions on how to turn off electricity, gas and water if authorities advise you to do so. (Remember, you'll need a professional to turnthem back on.)
5. Prepare interiors If evacuation, unplug all electrical devices. Shut off natural gas if local officials advise if and advise if and make sure to have a sufficient supply of batteries for battery-powered equipment.
6. Prepare exteriors Secure your home by boarding over windows or putting up hurricane shutters. If you use boards, purchase precut one-half-inch outtdoor plywood boards for each window of your home. Install anchors for the plywood and drill holes in th plywood ahead of time, so it can be installed quickly.
7. Clear dead trees If you live in a wooded area, make trees more wind-resistant by taking out diseased and damaged limbs, then strategically removing branches so that wind can blow through.
8. Avoid danger areas Move to safe shelters. Low-lying areas and mobile homes should be evacuated.
9. Stay informed Stay informed by monitoring weather advisories on radio and television. If advised to evacuate, do so immediately.
10. Clean up the yard If a hurricane watch is issued, prepare to bring inside any lawn furniture, outdoor decorations or ornaments, trash cans, hanging plants and anything else that can be picked up by the wind.
Thank you, Barnesville-Lamar County Fire Departments

Maybe all the evacuees will come shop at our new Ingle's.

The ad was quite humerous. 5:56 needs to take a chill pill.
Higher Standard? I have a question for 5:56.
If you were the news publisher, what would YOU do?
Would you tell someone with an honest opinion NO, or would you live up to your duties as a fair reporter and make the spot available?
I'd bet to most publishers, money isn't the end-all when it comes to ads like these. Theyre probably too much trouble for the money.
Scoop, why were the schools locked down today? Seems like all the schools were locked down at the same time.
