Former Georgia University System chancellor Thomas Meredith has stepped down temporarily from his position as head of Mississippi’s public higher education system amid allegations that university employees and equipment were used to landscape his home.
After an emergency teleconference on Saturday, the board that governs Mississippi’s universities released a statement saying only that board members had approved Meredith’s request “to voluntarily step aside from his day-to-day duties” during the investigation.
The Jackson Clarion-Ledger reported that Meredith was put on paid leave after allegations broke Friday that Vance Watson, interim president of Mississippi State University, used university equipment and personnel for landscaping at Meredith’s home in the Jackson area.
Meredith left the University System of Georgia for Mississippi in 2005 after a turbulent three-year period as chancellor.

He had to get his house ready for last week's Presidential Debate at Ole Miss. Or was it for the celebration after Ole Miss beat Florida?
I thought that kind of stuff was still ok in Mississippi.
They have landscaped yards in Mississippi?
Of course they have landscaped yards. Who do you think paints all those tires white and puts flowers in them.
