Prisons are overcrowded. He will be out in 2 years or less with good behavior.
I noticed in the Waller ad he says no more intimidation of citizens? I have never felt intimidated by the sheriff department. What is he talking about?

I've got a family member that works at the SO and he says moral is fine and that all these attacks are from disgruntled employees and politically motivated.
2 things.
first. i am glad also that there was finally a conviction in LC. Now we need to go after all the geek/meth monsters that get caught here all the time and get probation. Why would you probate probation. For instance Danny pressley. Yes im mentioning names. Can any one guess how many times he has got caught with meth, speeding in excess of 100mpg, alluding police, possesion of firearms by a convicted felon. Etc.. come on ppl. This type of individual needs to be off the streets along with a whole lot more of them here in Barnesville.
Sure prisons are over populated but that is just something that we are gonna have to put up with. Start building prisons that work the crap out of ppl and quit making it so relaxing.
BTW he wont be out in 2 years on good behavior. Ive got enough time in the department of corrections to know that. If they wouldnt have dropped the 90% law for violent offenders he would have to do 90% because of the type of crime.
2nd thing
about the JB LW situation.
I would like to know specifics on how he treats the employees like crap. If you are doing something wrong or against SOPs (standard operating procedures) or LOPs (local operating procedures) then there should be someone chewing you out every time you screw up. If you cant deal with it you need to be at Ingles or Sonic working. If he is calling them every name in the book ( SOB, MF etc) then there is a process that you can go through to remove him. Undoubtly he isnt doing that because he is still in office and there has been no repremand or IA investigation in it. I think the majority of the fuss is LW let all kinds of stuff get swept under the table and was hush hush about it and backed his deputies 100% no matter the situation. That is not the right way to be. If the deputy done something unprofessional or against sop or lop they should be scolded and repremanded..

Well the laws are so stupid. All the drug DEALERS, when caught, are getting sent to a "drug boot camp." I think everyone but the judge knows that most of the dealers don't do the drugs, they only sell. So why do the courts think that rehab is going to help the problem. They think these thugs are doing so well in boot camp because they pass all of their drug screens....well duh! Wake up people. The cops are doing their jobs, they cant make the judge do his. It is like a vicious cycle. They catch them and they get a slap on the wrist and are right back out. Why not sell? Hell they make thousands and week without much penalty. Why work at McDonald's for minimum wage?
I work at the sheriff's office under Joe Buice and I am not kin to him in any way. I enjoy my job and enjoy working for Sheriff Buice and with the people who work there. I am not afraid of Joe Buice. I respect him because he is my boss but I do not fear him because I go to work and do what I am supposed to do. Morale is just fine in the department. The administration, investigators, deputies, dispatchers and jailors have a good working relationship and everyone gets along just fine. For the most part, the bad seeds have been weeded out. The hand full of employees left from the LW administration are good people and are team players. Despite what you read on the various blogs or hear on the streets, we all get along fine and do our job serving the public. We realize we are not going to make everyone happy but we try our best everyday to do the right thing and serve and protect the public. We DO NOT intentionally intimidate anyone. If someone is intimidated by the sheriff or any member of his staff then they are up to soething or have something to hide. I invite and challenge you to come out to the sheriff's office any day and hang out with us. You will see that it is a grest department.

Danny Presley IS in prison. He is currently in Milan State Prison serving a 5 year prison sentence for Possession of Meth. He was sentenced in Lamar Co. You can go to dcor.state.ga.us & see for yourself.

Even if a person pleads guilty & gets probation, it is still a CONVICTION. The only difference is that the tax payers of Lamar Co don't have to foot the bill for a trial.
I had to go pick up some paperwork at the SO a few months ago and believe it or not, it was a pleasurable experience. I saw some friends I haven't seen in a while who work there and as I was talking to them, the Sheriff came up, joined in the conversation, and was friendly. So I just have a hard time believing all this stuff about bad morale and so forth...it's all politics.
It has nothing to do with politics. It has to do with his character and even if no one else in this town believes anything on this blog, JB knows the truth!

Personally, I hate the idea of prisons.
There are already over 1 million people in US prisons. I'm hesitant to quote the exact amount, but something like 1% of our population is in prison if I'm not mistaking.
Georgia, (and all US states) should strive toward a "prisonless" system.
We could sentence offenders as follows:
Violent crimes, armed robbery, rape, drug dealing, etc: Give the offender a chance to get right with God and send him to the Creator.
Drug Users: boot camp rehab.
Thieves: Make them pay back 10 times what they stole or attempted to steal. If they don't have a job, then boot camp working for the state until its paid back.
It makes no sense to me to house people to just house them; especially in an environment where they're more likely to get even more corrupted.
ok, alright the liberal is coming out of me. Before we send the violent criminals to the Creator, sure we can have a one year and a day waiting period in case more evidence presence itself in their favor.

I agree with you - the DIRTY POSITICAL STUFF is sickening and it is past the time for it to stop! I also know Joe and Larry personally and they are both good people. I also think that Joe has done a great job and the Sherrif's Department presents a more professional image than it has for many years. I know if you are in a "managerial position" at times you have to "step on some toes" but the bottom line is called "doing your job". Joe is doing the job!
