this poll on dfacs is running on our homepage...

at www.barnesville.com but some may wish to comment further.

do you think dfacs records regarding child welfare complaints and who receives how much in food stamps and welfare payments should be open to public scrutiny?

would this be a safegaurd against fraud or would it be an invasion of privacy?

discuss.

I am one that thinks fraud is involved with DEFACS money. However, it should be managed by DEFACS personnel and information not be available to the public. There are many people on it that very much needs it and it should be no ones personal business. The privatcy of those that need it should be considered.

The bums that are on it to stay already know who they are and the DEFACS personnel know too. Others that are on it and work to get off and back on their own feet, well; that's nobody's business but theirs.

I think our local DFACS office does a good job. You can't tell a foster child from one who is not in Lamar but you can in surrounding counties. Thanks to those who work to protect children. Those who abuse or neglect their child or children should be publicly ridiculed.

Ain't it funny how one group of people wants the lazy to go to work and pay their share of taxes and still another group wants the taxpayers to keep giving everything away to the lazy.

Is there any middle ground?

This does not include everyone because it's known that these funds are really needed - BUT - not needed everywhere it is given.
