pigskin prognostications week 10...

i took some time off last week for some fishing and to attend the georgia-florida game (sweet!) and did not get around to my picks. but, here are my fearless projections for this week.

in week eight i went 7-3. now at 52-28 for the season for a .650 average.

virginia tech@georgia tech: they love thursday night games on the flats. don't know why, they have a losing record in them. hokies come in ranked #11 but are underdogs to the mag...er, jackets who are without their top two running backs. the best thing about this game is, either way, tech loses. take the gift point and a half. hokies roll. virginia tech 37 georgia tech 17.

wisconsin@ohio state: top ranked buckeyes play host to the badgers who are ranked #21. i have never seen a badger. i have never seen a wisconsin team that impessed me. to paraphrase mr. rogers, can you say 'lack of team speed'? buckeyes are 15.5 point favorites. sounds good to me. ohio state 42 wisconsin 24.

vanderbilt@florida: vanderbilt is improved. #20 gators are a one-man show and their one man, tim tebow, was hurt going into the georgia game and is even more busted up now. can vanderbilt go into the swamp and win? absolutely! but not this week. florida 21 vanderbilt 17.

nebraska@kansas: kansas is ranked #8 and the once mighty cornhuskers don't rate. nebraska hath sucketh since they dumped the triple option. that was the only offense run in high schools out there. toto, we're in kansas to get our a** kicked. kansas 35, nebraska 13.

lsu@alabama: they are calling this one the saban bowl and it should be a barn burner. the #3 bayou bengals are seven point faves but bama is playing well at present and you know saban wants a win over his old team. the ghost of the bear intervenes in this upset. alabama 27 lsu 24 in overtime.

south carolina@arkansas: both these teams are now unranked and that is a surprise to me. how can a coach waste the talents of darren mcfadden who chose the nutthouse when he should have chosen the dawg house? steve spurrier's flawed cocks are five point underdogs and struggle against the run -and rundmc can run. arkansas 31 south carolina 27.

florida state@boston college: bc is ranked #2 and there is little fsu can do about it. seminoles are a shadow of their former selves. vegas has them as 7.5 point underdogs. it will be worse than that. boston college 51 fsu 34.

oregon state@usc: the #19 trojans have shown vulnerability and everybody is gunning for them. usc has a tough november after this game. the beavers won this one last year at home and have won three in a row but the trojans are 14-point favorites. take those points but usc wins. usc 26 oregon state 24.

rutgers@connecticut: don't look now but my dad's alma mater, uconn, is ranked #13. that is proof positive the college football world is in disarray. surely, the gameday crew will be in connecticut soon. hate to dash all that but rutgers wins this one. take them and the gift three points. rutgers 34 connecticut 24.

troy@georgia: mark richt said earlier this week that this is a trap game for the dawgs. he'd best hope for an easy win in order to rest the starters for next week's matchup with the wareagletigerplainsmen. that is exactly what he will get. troy hangs close for a quarter and a half before speed and talent win out. knowshon goes over 200 yards. georgia 47 troy 17.

I think Ugag is the only team that can stop New England!
