That Piglet looks as scared and timid as Tashard Choice!
It is sad! Poor pigs!!
Someone needs to put a stop to this. Or atleast not have 150 kids chasing after it a once. That is soooooo mean. And those men who bring the pigs...whats up with that?
Call PETA!!!!
The next time you stop by OBs or Georgia South, think about the poor pig then! :-)
Folks it's all in fun. No pig was hurt in the festivities. I guess we'll need that disclaimer from now on!
Millions of pigs are killed everyday for your breakfast, lunch and dinner...quit whinning!
If you screw with Buggy Days you might not make it to see another one.
Write to the paper about it and don't forget to sign your name.
Raising pigs for food is one thing but raising a pig so that it can provide human entertainment which may subject the pig to pain and suffering is another thing. This event is wrong. It is just like dog fighting.
Hey dummies, look, the pig is smiling!
Anon 9:16, I totally agree!!
How does one know that the pigs were not harmed or hurt? Did the pigs say so. Guess you know pig language.
I think that particular event should be banned. It's cruel! Just like the dog fighting is.
As far as eating at OB's and places like that. I don't think they torture the pig before killing it.
iay eakspay igpay atinLay. oesday atthay ountcay?
most of you people against the pig chase must be UGA fans because the lil piggies look so much like lil UGAS weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
i think PETA sent Michael Vick down to toss the ole "pigskin" around. PETA is about as worthless as teats on a bull
I'm on the pig's side in this one.
Soap up some kids and let them run from something that terrifies them. Now that would be real fun!
6:07 PM post-
That sounds like a threat to me. (If you screw with Buggy Days you might not make it to see another one...)
Why don't you sign your name to your post?
Bring It Buddy!
I'd rather see them chasing you next year. Now that would be fun!
P.S. And I will write a letter - to more than just the paper!
yall are all vegetarians.
quit complaining
Dear 2:36,
I am a vegan, but I don't hold your being a carnivore against you or attempt to force my views upon those who eat differently from me. I simply disagree with inflicting terror and unnecessary torture upon an animal just for "fun".
Ma, go get yo teeth-.. it's time for the pig chase!
What does an individuals eating habits have to do with their desire not to witness or condone harassment, torment and torture of a small helpless animal amid unruly pandemonium?
I interviewed the pig later that day. He said that he had a good time dodging all those people and other than being a little tired, it was fun.
If you call having your po little heart scared out not cruelty then what is. Lets turn it around and let a child be chased by a bunch of pigs.
Thanks,12:18 am, 9:05 am, 9:20 am,1:34 pm, 2:25am, 9:16 pm, 1:08 am, 11:41 am, 2:35 pm, 2:46 pm, 3:03 pm, 6:58 pm.
Please be sure to do the poll that is on this web site re/ the pig chase.
it's harmless fun, it's not like we are putting adults out there... these are kids, if they weren't enjoying themselves then why are they smiling in the photos....
25 years ago...little kids chasing a little pig is fun and harmless
10 years ago...little kids chasing a little pig is fun and maybe harmless
now....little kid chasing a little pig is animal cruelty
HELLo 2:39
Dog and cock fighting were popular in ancient times.
100 years ago we didn't have electricity. Now, thanks to EMC,
WE HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT!
25 years ago there were no pedophiles (really?)
10 years ago you couldn't send a b-lc blog via a computer.
Times change- and hopefully, we improve.
Is it animal cruelty when my boys chase their dog around the yard?
uh.... so you saying 6:52 that electricity led to animal cruelity?
re: 6:07pm
Terroristic Threats in the Official Code of Georgia Section 16-11-37:
(a) A person commits the offense of a terroristic threat when he or she threatens to commit any crime of violence
Are there really American terrorists? People who threaten others for their opinions? Interesting stuff right here in small town America, and not its not even in the middle east.
Food for thought---
"The AWA (Animal Welfare Act under the USDA), prohibits staged dogfights, bear or raccoon baiting, and similar animal fighting ventures---"
that is right out the book.
"For more than a quarter of this century, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has enforced the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) to protect certain animals from inhumane treatment and neglect. Congress passed the AWA in 1966 and strengthened the law through amendments in 1970, 1976, 1985, and 1990. The USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) administers the AWA, its standards, and its regulations---"
again, right out of the book.
Questions:
Under the Federal Animal Welfare Act is the pig fighting for its life?---even if the pig percives it as such?
As a farm animal, does it matter?
Dogs are covered. Wild animals, such as bears and raccoons are mentioned. Are pigs of less value than raccoons?
Do people think the pig is fighting for its life--or is the pig just having fun? Interesting.
Maybe "staged" is a key word. Maybe.
The word "similar" might be too.
Maybe the word "fighting", and with whom, as well.
These darn pesky Federal and State laws could just about be interpreted anyway you could think of--of course that would take a really good attorney or two or three to do that I suppose.
Food for thought. Although, not exactly bar-b-que.
You make the call...its time to grow up parents.
