Not a bad game between probably the worst 2 teams in our region. Except for all the turnovers. Looked like Lamar had better athletes but the Trojans were once again out coached, out hustled, and outplayed by an inferior team!!!

Unbelievable, to think we had high hopes as fans only to be taken away by underacheivers. And please dont tell me to take it easy on these kids, if they cant play take off the helmet! Oh my bad, in our politicaly correct society we should say "At least they tried"
To Unbelievable @5:17 and the rest who continue to down the kids of this community. Maybe you should take a look in the mirror and see the problem.... I have a kid on this team and have watched and coached these kids in rec ball. The problem is not with the kids but with the parents. It is hard for a coach to instill discipline on the field when not instilled at home. You are quick to say fire the coach and go with negative comments, but how much time do you spend in trying to help these kids. This is a young team and the season is not over. If you don't like the coach take it up with him, but stop bashing the kids. btw.... What would you do to improve this team????? This coaching staff is willing to talk with you as long as you act like you have a shred of intelligence. I do expect more out of this team.... but I also expect more out of this community...
amen 727 the problem starts at home. parents use school and its extracurricular activites as babysitters. how many parents actually come to games with their kids? and how many of thses kids that are just dropped off actually watch the game? i mean, if they want to spend 7 bucks to stand around and goof off we'll take it. but it would be cooler if they cared and cheered or came out for the team or something

whoa whoa whoa 727... I agree it starts at home. And I agree these are good kids. Thats NOT the issue. Before you categorize all the "Bashers" let me tell you a few things. Your telling me "THIS IS THE BEST WE CAN DO?" and its the PARENTS fault?? I HAVE played both hIgh school AND college ball. I know we can do better. I know the dedication it takes. DO these kids work in the off season on their football? Do these kids look at it like there's a future here? Do these kids say "We are working not just for us but for the community?" If so, I dont see it! And another thing, I HAVE worked with these kids. I HAVE given my time, I HAVE seen better than what were getting out of them. If I'm harsh its because when I was that age, my coach was harsh on me and believe it or not I WANTED TO DO BETTER!! So dont tell me it's the Parents fault when it comes to football!! At home YES, on the field NO. It's time they take responsibility for their actions!! COACHING STAFF ALSO!!
I dont know what to say about this team anymore! I had hey hopes for them this year! espically after last year! I dont know whats wrong with them! JUST STEP IT UP! DO SOMETHING!
How much is enough? We dont have community support because we dont have team effort. We dont have team effort because we dont have a good coaching staff. Every head coach I know would ask his staff everyday "Whats wrong?" and without excuse the coaches would be held accountable. But not in Lamar where mediocrity is the battle cry!

You want to see an example of good coaching : Crawford Co., been the whippin boy for a few years. The current coaching staff took over last year, and have turn it around fast. The Eagles lost to Lamar last year. Will not happen this year, gonna hang 40 or more on the Trojans this year with basically the same kids from last years team.
Agreed! But looks like we are STUCK with the coach and staff we have. So, here we are in LAMAR with Pee Wee football to look forward too!! HEY.... At least the LAMAR GATORS are winning!!

Josey sorry to disappoint you but this is Tony Byram and staff's FIFTH year at Crawford County. The Eagles record under him the first four years? 6-34. They have started out this season 3-0.
In contrast, this is Calvin Scandrett's fifth season at Lamar County. The Trojans record the first four years under him? 16-24.
Last year the Trojans started out 4-0 only to finish 6-4.
So don't go handing the Eagles any championship rings just yet.

Guess what? The band stinks as bad as the team. Lamar hasn't had a good marching band since '98. It's also bad when there are more people on the visitors side than the home side!!!
Lamar Marching Band is a show band, one that dosent put on a very good show. Pike actually plays real music not the hip-hop crap. This situation oddly reminds me of the movie Drumline. Oh and Pikes Drumline is better as well they actually stick together and know how to play.

ok. for one thing, i know plenty of ppl that are out there playin ball. the coach that got fired was a great coach. he came from fl, and his team down there was fine. he only did one thing wrong, which was put in a player who had hurt his shoulder earlier in the game, but the guy said he was fine. he mainly got fired b/c he mouthed off to scandrett. he told scan that if he was still the quarterback coach, we wouldn't have been losing. i prob would've said it too, but not to his face. that was where he screwed up. he shouldn't have been fired, we didn't lose because of him, it was a combined effort of all the coaches not thinking. he just got blamed for it b/c he had to open his mouth. i'm not defending him or bashing scan, i didn't even like burkhart for the most part, and i like scan ok. but ya'll can't say it's solely their fault. at the pike co game, the guys weren't even playin well. considering josh hendricks dropped the ball a whole bunch, we still played well. there were a couple of missed passes, and a few places that the coaches made a good move, like instead of goin for a field goal they decided to run it in to tie the game.
and about our band...
i've been in band before, and i majored in music. you must be completely tone deaf if you think pike or mary persons bands played better than ours. there's also an unwritten "band etiquette" that is usually held to, and lamar does a great job of it. bands are SUPPOSED to play a song, then the other band plays something, and it goes back and forth. pike kept interupting us while we were playin, and mary persons just had more to play for. if the team would give the band somethin to play for, it would make their job easier.
BTW, pike's percussion line was off beat. and you couldn't even hear their actual band. you must have never stayed after for the whole 'battle of the bands'. our band- is friggin awesome.

alright, to set the record straight, lamar lost tonight 49-0. they obviously need some practice. good ole pike county beat the 1st place crawford co. eagles tonight, ending their winning streak. obviously pike is coming back. we beat lamar on their own field, we had more people at the game than the home team. seems to me people in lamar already knew it would be a waste of their money. i believe the pike marching band could beat lamar this year.
pike is making a come back this year. were gonna turn the championship into a PIRATE SHIP!!!
bouncing back from their 0-8 season last year, pike county is ranked 2nd in the region. a win this friday against calloway will put pike in 1st place. who would have thought? to go from being completely defeated last year to the top of the region this year is amazing. i have to give it to the pirates for their outstanding improvement this year. i see a championship on the horizon.
Just to let you know. Pike County Pirate Regiment placed FIRST in the A Division at the Valhalla Classic. We couldn't even hear Lamar on our side, we could only see them "dancing". And when we were leaving the LCCHS Colorguard flipped us the bird.
And to 8:27pm aparently the LCCHS Band dosen't go by this unwritten "band etiquette" because the colorguard, like 9:49 pm said, flipped us the bird. And last year when they were in Pike they would not leave at all!!
For everybody who has dissed the Lamar County band you are wrong. We don't play hip hop and our color guard wouldn't shot you birds. We are not disrespectful like your band. You want to say disrespectful how about the band director coming and cussing out our band director. Thats disrespectful. We are way better than you. Your just cause we made you cry last year. and our color guard can dance better. You just till 09 we will tear you up on music. and i guess you don't know the difference between hip hop and R&B you should ashamed as a musician. Cause Stevie Wonder is not Hip Hop!! Your truly a Lamar county band member
