open lamar county vs. macon county thread...
i have social obligaitons this evening. thomas aiken will shoot the game for me.

Any score on how bad the Bulldogs of Macon County is defeating the Lamar County Trojans?
I like Coach Scandrett as a person and as a coach. I really hope he comes up with something new to turn this team around. There is plenty of talent on the sidelines that is not being used at all. I don't care if they are varsity or JV, let them play. You shouldn't play because of who you are or what your name is. You play because of HOW you play. Have the JV squad has more heart then the Varsity. Put them out there and let them show you. I bet they can score more than whats been scored so far. If what you are working with isn't working maybe it's time to put others in that have heart and are there to play football and not just be seen. I bet you'd see a whole new team and a turn around for the best. Let these players earn their position. I don't want to see any of the coaches fired or any of the players sitting, but I do want to see the ones who deserve to play play and see this team win.
Sorry to pop your dream bubble anom. 11:08PM right above; but as must as I like Coach Scandrett, I would say he will not be coaching at Lamar County next year.
It doesn't really matter how inexperience or young the players are; the coach take the fall. Other teams overcome their downfalls; but the Trojans have been unable to do so under Coach Scandrett.
I mean, he has had one more year than we give the President of our great nation to get the team on the right track and he has failed.
Last night was a pathetic display. Macon County is one of the worst offensive teams in the region and they drop 49 on us. Enough is enough. Parents and fans, you must let your feelings be known to the superintendent and the board. Guess what, it won't get any better anytime soon. The JV hasn't won a game, so its not like there is a pipeline coming up to replace these guys. Something needs to be done.
Pike beat Crawford County last night 31-19. Now tell me that coaching doesn't make a diffrence. Now tell me that this program is on the right track. Now tell me that everything is OK.
Some of the key players were suspended from last night's game. I don't really know what their suspension was for, but from what I've witnessed in the past, I'm fairly certain it was warranted and probably past due. Unfortunately the lack of enforcement of a "code of conduct" from the beginning of Scandrett's tenure at LC will probably make turning things around, as 11:08 hopes, close to impossible.
At least the side show was on the Macon County side last night. What about their band production?
First of all, I am not prudish but...somebody needs to have their head on a plate from Macon Co. for that halftime display. The band stood still and played for the "hunch bunch." I saw more pelvic thrust on that field than at the Cheetah. I hated not to applaud the band but I couldn't. When you get right down to it, there is a disconnect between the races on this. Black fans loved it while white fans were covering their children's eyes. Sorry folks, not racism, just an observation. I for one will be writing a letter to the principal at Macon Co. to express my disgust.
A couple of girls boobs about fell out of their tops. It was pretty raunchy. But at least it was better than the Trojans' performance on the field. That was raunchier.
Maybe what needs to be discussed is how for a second week in a row another player was left hurt on the sidelines with a leg injury. No coach even alerted the medics they had an injured player. He was left alone on the back of a truck in pain. Forget the scores, something should be done about that.
I will NOT attend another game as long as this current staff is in place. I'm sorry, but this is bad. I love football, but were not seeing it and they dont deserve my dollars. I will not and can not support this crap on the field.

Wow. I am not taking up for the coachs or anyone like that, but in order to be a playoff caliber team like most seem to feel Lamar High is, their is one little thing that you must have, Talent. From what I have seen their isnt much out there. Its not the kids fault and its not the coachs fault that they are not as talented as other schools. Given talent isnt the only problem out there on this team. Their is a lot of things going wrong with that team, but in order for teams to be able to compete week in and week out they must have more than a few players that can actually play.
One part of a coaches job is to be able to develop players. I think there is some talent that is not reahing its potential under this group. There are some good kids on this team and they deserve better than they are getting from this staff and that starts at the top with the head coach. Scan is a fine man but the job is not getting done here!

Come on Folks! There are a few good players really trying out there. To just stop supporting your team is an example of the poor discipline you are talking about. i have to agree with 938. if you abandon this team because you dont like the coaching, what is that saying? it is an undisciplined move on your part. i wll be there win or lose at every home and away game. i have followed football, playing coachind and writing about it, for a very long time. there are some talented players on our team. there are a few more players, not as talented, who give it their very best day in and day out and then there are some kids who have some potential. if you give up on them now, they will see how easy it is and give up on themselves later in life. again, that is not teaching discipline at all. if you think they are not learning discipline from the coaching staff, then you teach them discipline by sticking with them even though the wins arent coming otherwise, youre no better than the coaches you get on this blog and rip apart.

did anyone else notice that nobody was blocking for our injured quarterback the whole game? i mean, this guy was trying to run the ball and 4 guys hit him simultaneously like every time. and then he couldn't get a pass in because the line kept letting the dogs sack him.
Get the team back to the basics and instill disciplin back to the players and the wins will come. Sorry, rushed. It's mainly the coach but the players have a part in it too.
what about the pirates? going from a 0-8 defeated season last year to a current 2nd place seat in the region. when they beat calloway this friday they'll be 1st in the region. that is proof that coaching counts. they have the same head coach, mac mcmillan, but there are many new faces on the coaching staff this year. coach cape for exmple is one of the best motivational speakers i have ever heard. he really knows how to pump the team up, even in a losing situatoin. another thing helping the pirates this year is the support. i've spoken with numerous players ans they have all mentioned the turn outs at the games are a great help in motivating the team. pike had more fans at lamar than the home team, and last week in marion county, which is a 2 hour drive, there were more fans in the visitor stands than the home stands, and it was marion county's homecoming. thats pretty cool. i think if lamar wants to win a game, they need a little discipline and a lot of support. prediction: the pirates are going all the way this year.
Good grief...Does Pike Co. not have it's own blog? Whether Lamar is winning or not, we don't give a hill in hell what happens to Pike. We formed our own county in 1920.
well all i can say is that the trojans will fight for everything they get and they wont quit so if u are someone that is talented and can play better than the players then come out there and do what they do on a day to day basis
I wish yall cared as much about the schools sub-standard academic performance year after year. Why don't we start by demanding that the school board take responsibility for the underachievement of the schools in lamar county? The football team can wait.
About the bands: Macon County has an excellent band and I know those girls work hard. They will probably work on their uniforms to prevent any potential wardrobe malfunctions, but I hate when people bring race into these discussions. If you haven't seen drumline you are living in the dark ages. There are a lot more suggestive dancing going on in the Atlanta and Dekalb area. Friday night was mild, thats why blacks applauded - they've seen it all before. Both bands were good and should be applauded for their two styles - something for everyone.
If I'm gonna get on here and criticize I'm also gonna come on here to compliment. Even though we got quite a spanking Friday night one thing I did not see was eating, ipods, flirting girls, twenty warerboys, rude gestures, and yes... no umbrellas on the sidelines! If there is discipline the winnings will come!
One thing I did see was our great band and cheerleaders! Thanks to their coaches and leaders for not having vulgar performances!
12:53-The only thing those girls are working hard on is their next fund raiser- TO BUY POLES! I didn't know if I should close my eyes or throw $1 bills!

They have way more class than to portray themselves as wannabe strippers. I was at the game Friday and I witnessed the Macon County band's vulgar display. I was mortified and I wanted to cover the eyes of my friend's child who was sitting next to me.
Scan forgot to schedule umpires for the MS softball game today....whoops! Thank goodness the parents know umpires that they could call! How embarrassing for LCMS. Come on BOE take a look at the AD! Thank goodness our team did not have to forfeit.
can we have a blog on taxes, the local DA & sheriff? I'm not a great fan of the sheriff but way to go Buice for standing up. I have found this blog is a great way to get the "powers" attention, whether it be football, softball or politics.

The problem is, it was too little too late. If he would have took control of discipline at the beginning of the season, it wouldn't have gotten to this point. The inmates were allowed to run the asylum for too long.
for all of you hated on scan, he is not the first coach that have made mistakes. wilson was not a better coach because if he was he would had won championships with those teams that he won back to back region championship. wilson also would not let another coach kick off a key player. scan is doing his job the boys are not doing their jobs on the field.
I feel like Macon County 's band did a good job,one because I'm a memberand we work very hard on our performnces . I beleive the real reason is you guys lost and our band is better.

Don't think anyone was suspended, some players were in a car accident and had minor injuries.

I, too, was very impressed with the sidelines. I believe you have to start somewhere. The out of control behavior was much better.
