Frankly, I'm sick and tired of the whole thing. No, it's not ok to go hanging nooses off of trees in an effort to intimidate but it's also not ok to go beat someone's a** for doing it. As usual the SCLC, Rainbow Coalition, blah, blah, etc... has taken it upon themselves to stir up a bunch of mess just to promote their racist (yes, I said racist) agenda.
whats to discuss its the media playing up to the blacks,if the roles were reversed you wouldn't hear a thing about it,its ok for a group of blacks to attack a white kid but let a group white attack a black and its a hate crime,makes me sick and everybody wants better race relations well this ain't the way to do it

The nooses were placed in the tree in September of last year, overhanging an area that white and black kids congregate but I'm sure it was directed towards the black students. The tree has been cut down since then because of that.
The white students were disciplined according to the -school system - because it was in no violation of any law, actually free speech protects this type of thing, but the school does not allow it.
The white kid was attacked in DECEMBER by six black kids where he was knocked unconcious and stomped and kicked afterwards but he was able to attend a school function later that same night after returning from the hospital.
The noose hanging white kid and some of the attacking black kids played the football season from Sept. to Dec. on the same team without problems, so if you look at the Dec. attack it's hard to say it was a result from the Sept. actions.
The State Attorney General has said himself that these two incidents are not related, but the media would tell you otherwise.
The charges have already been reduced for 5 of the 6 kids (young adults actually) with the exception being for one kid who already has past criminal activity for being violent. They did violate laws set forth by the state and these laws are color blind, they need to be punished.
The violent child needs a wake up call and he's going to get it. Well deserved. He will not serve any where close to 20 years, also well deserved.

Hanging nooses doesn't violate anyone's right to life, liberty, or property. Hence, it isn't a matter of law, but of school discipline. Inflicting physical injury on someone does violate that persons rights. If white kids jumped a black kid and weren't tried as adults, or weren't tried at all, then they should be. I would rather see both groups charged as adults rather than both groups get off bc it was a "school yard fight". Because our children are school aged, do we not extend to them the legal protection to be free from bodily harm imposed by others? Mighty slippery slope, my friends.
