chick-fil-a founder in barnesville...

s. truett cathy (above) and his son, dan, were in barnesville last night to keynote an event hosted by the barnesville-lamar county community foundation at the gordon fine arts auditorium. the cathys spoke on the importance of community philanthropy.

truett cathy quoted the late j.b. fuqua who said. "it seems like the more i give, the more i get".

"we can never outgive god," the elder cathy added.

12:39 I agree. chick-fil-a in any town would make money. In Griffin they could build two more, and they would stay packed too.

It was a real coup to get both gentlemen to share their philosphy on life. If the Chick-Fil-A men would become Barnesville bloggers I bet they could impact some of these critics who want to destroy everything and everyone on this space.

There's still hope for some of them.

HOW DOES A LOCAL CHARITY APPLY FOR DONATIONS FROM THIS FOUNDATION!

2:02 p.m. Why is everything that is negative considered unproductive? I agree that some blogs are just down right mean and of no purpose, but are we to all be Pollyanna's with our heads in the sand (to mix my metaphors)? We have to be willing to say 'this is wrong' for things to get better. There is no such things as standing still, in every endeavor you are either moving forward or backward.

Mr. Cathy is one true man of God. Notice he is the only fast food place closed on Sunday. He could actually make tons of money that day. But he chooses God first. And that is why that man has so much! Have you ever noticed how nice all the employees are at a Chic-fil-a ? He pays them decent money also. He's just an awesome person in my opinion.

1:28AM: I AGREE 100%!

The reason I believe Barnesville, Thomaston, Forsyth and the like towns do not have a Chic-fil-a is because of the labor pool / work force to pick from. It is not your typical fast food chain because of the workers. You would not find a consistent supply of the type workers needed to maintain this image in the like mentioned towns.
They do not settle for just any warm body to show up looking like they just rolled out of bed and attempt to take orders and serve the public. You must have a large enough labor pool to cull out some otherwise you must take what you can get.

I have noticed this in many towns across Georgia that will have all the major fast food chains but no Chic-fil-a.

McDonalds, Hardees, Burger King, Pizza Hut, KFC, Captain D, Wendy's are all lined up in some towns that I have visited in GA but no Chic-fil-a. I have concluded that it will not locate there because of the labor pool and what it would do to thier image.

I do not fault them at all. I am glad they will not compromise and settle for less. It makes me seek out chic-fil-a when I can because you don't always get to.

Next time you visit a chic-fil-a take note of the service compared to other fast foods. And oh yea, they are much cleaner than most other fast food chains.

Your opinion makes alot of sense! I never really noticed chic-fil-a not being in some locations but since you mentioned it, it's true. And if that's the case we her in Barnesville will probably never get one.
