the former ban-lar pontiac building near the corner of college drive and forsyth street in downtown barnesville is now a pile of rubble.
the building was razed to make way for the new location of hines prescription shop.
ban-lar pontiac occupied the location for years and was run by pop banks and lamar poore.
i hope they saved the vintage pontiac sign that was on the building.
do you have memories of ban-lar?

No memories, but glad to see progress in our town. Wish they could have remodled, but then again no parking.
ah the good old days of looking at new cars on the lot there then stepping down to the corner for a chicken snac box from the old big chic (walk up only) that stood across the street. dont forget the smell of laundry drying as you passed mr. faulkner's laundry on the same block. many a time did we sneek into his back yard and steal a handful of green plums only to get the belly ache after.
I'm glad that place won't be just an empty building anymore but the timing of the destruction might be a little off. Could look ugly for buggy days but it won't affect the turnout.
i bought a car there in 92 what is the property going to be?
jim hines has moved to N C
I remember when it was Capel Pontiac. I was sold a lemon that literally ruined my credit. In a sense, I still have not recovered from that ordeal.
Jim Hines has nothing to do with that lot. David Sandlin, the owner of Hines Prescription Shop, is building a new drug store there.
whats that big yeller thang
Kind of looks like Sanford and Son stadium after South Carolina went through it.
