alleged stop 'n cop drug market operators mandrickas buckner and tony akins refused plea agreements and decided to stand trial in front of a jury.
their decisions came today in lamar superior court.
longtime followers of crime news in lamar county will remember akins as the man who drove the getaway car following an armed robbery attempt at the country kitchen some years ago. here's hoping his jurors will remember that!

lets save some money and hang em high it will keep good people off jury duty
Does the DA remember how to try anyone?
rope a dope sounds good to me
How do we know what their criminal record is ?
in order for a fair trial, the paper and blog should not be bringing up old charges....it will taint the jury pool
how many damn criminals are running around this county, does everybody here have a criminal background?just damn!
That's past criminal activity and it is open game in my opinion as long as this person was found guilty of a crime. This person will not escape his past regardless of media attention. It is better to know past deeds as FACT rather than hearsay anyhow and if this is out in the open as fact it is less likely to be misunderstood- leave it to hearsay in B-ville and this guy will be a serial killer before its over.
This guy will get a fair trial as long as people respect the role of being a juror.
I personally take that role with respect and an open mind, but facts are a B- if your in the wrong!
The softer side of Rev.
PS- legalize drugs, it would better America in the future!
It's startling how one can make the leap from petty drug dealer to serial killer. I would be more concerned about the kids caught killing pets on Greenwood street becoming serial killer than some small town drug dealer. I agree with anonymous 7:49 pm about tainting the jury pool.
Let's remember everyone who did something crooked or dishonest, including the history of a former real estate broker judge who used to be on the IDA.
After all, fair is fair.

Yes, it does seem like Scoop is trying to taint the jury pool. Maybe he's helping Buckner & Akins to get the conviction thrown out on appeal.
For a small town we sure have alot of criminals, who need to be put away. Let's hope the judge and D.A. will do it.
Betcha the DA makes them another deal before the trial which I would wager would be better than the first deal. He, the DA, probably is not sleeping at night worrying about having to try a case.
Let's get him and the judge out of office. Time for the criminals to get locked away for good. Maybe we can all begin to feel safer here in Lamar County.
ANON 12:48 you need to know that Judge "greasy spoon" Wilson has never lost a precinct in Monroe County. There are not enough voters in Lamar County to get him out of office.
As for "Plead 'em Out" Milan he is a typical lawyer...the bottom of the food chain.
Neither of them are known for their great legal minds. Both are gross amateurs at best and "jokes" at worst!!!
Lamar County will always be ill represented as long as we vote into office people like Wilson, Milan, the Burnette clan and other "good ole boys" who intelligent level mirrors that of
our primatial ancestors.
We get what we vote for!!!!!
Well another one quits the S O keep up the sloppy work buice.
well another one can't take the heat- Get the weak out of those TAX-PAYERS uniforms and replace them with dedicated people who can take a little old fashioned encouragement for the betterment of the TAX-PAYERS.
How are we suppose to take these deputies seriously when they can't take a straightening out and laying down of the LAW themselves.
REAL Change takes Sacrifice.
Thought you were going to give orders not take em'?
HAHAHAHAHAHA!
Thank-you Joe for weeding out the weak!
Be glad they signed up to serve this county and not this Country!
1:05 the only taxpayers benefiting from so many good deputies leaving is the taxpayers who are getting them and not having to pay for their training and experience. Most of them I know personally and most of them have lots of years of EXPERIENCE which is something you don't get with new people just out of the academy. So let JB keep training and running them off while Lamar County picks up the tab it aint costing nobody but you and your neighbors and by the way some of those still there and some of those who have left have and still do serve this country so your sorry jb supporting ass can have freedom and free speech.
you ever noticed it's the same butt kissing bloggers always taking up for JB...so brainwashed....we know kg is one of them....thank god for his mommie to beg Jb for him a job.
Thats the damn truth!
There have been a lot of very dedicated deputies leave. Some of which have many, many years expierence and very good reputations. Sure at the beginning, there were people that needed to be weeded out, but come on, it has turned into a revolving door at the SO. There is definitely a problem when that many people leave. I wonder what the exact turnover rate has been since he took office. How much money has been spent and lost on sending people to the Academy?
