pigskin prognostications return...

now in a format where you can join in the fun.

here we go.

lsu@mississippi state: this is tonight's tv game and many believe it is les miles' first win on the way to the sec championship and national title game. the bayou bengals are ranked #2 but they lost all-world qb jamarcus russell to the nfl. lsu will win this one but the other bulldogs and their fans will be fired up with the espn crew in starkville. of course, anything bigger than a four-car funeral fires up starkville. my jury is still out on miles. lsu 37 mississippi state 27.

ole miss@memphis: ole miss just earned a top 10 party school ranking but the football there hath sucketh since archie manning left town. the rebels are just 2.5 point faves on the road. memphis has talent and puts it together in this one. memphis 21 ole miss 20.

troy@arkansas: the former troy state goes to arkansas where quarterback controversies abound and stud wideout marcus monk is hurt. however, houston nutt has darren mcfadden and even i could hand off to him. arkansas 61 troy 6.

marshall@miami: randy shannon will try to restore the fire in the hurricanes - a daunting task in a town where support for his team is tepid at best. miami will struggle again this year. miami used to win with speed and attitude. everybody has that now. miami 31 marshall 18.

louisiana-lafayette@south carolina: steve spurrier suspended quarterback blake mitchell for this game. some punishment, huh. some think spurrier can win the sec east. not me! still, lafayette gets the guillotine. south carolina 77 little league 3.

wake forest@boston college: reigning acc champs are 6.5 point underdogs on the road at bc. methinks the wake will be better this year than last plus i owe them for spanking tech in the acc title game. wake forest 24 boston college 23.

kansas state@auburn: the wareagletigerplainsmen have upgraded their season opener from hurricane katrina leftover high in new orleans to kansas state. k-state hangs its hat on the fact it beat nebraska last year in lincoln. they will hang with auburn for a half before they hang their heads. auburn 41 kansas state 27.

tennessee@california: credit to the vols for avoiding the opening day creampuff. shame phil fulmer is not so diligent at dunkin donuts. phil will need some comfort twinkies after going all the way to california to get his top rocked. california 35 tennessee 29.

georgia tech@notre dame: one of the more intriguing matchups of opening weekend. charlie weis, who never met a buffet he backed away from, runs his mouth, plays mind games with his players and fans and has yet to win a big game. chan gailey is, well, the man who started the fatally flawed reggie ball for four years. calvin johnson is gone and touchdown jesus is still hanging. notre dame 27 georgia tech 24.

oklahoma state@georgia: the cowboys bill theirs as the world's most powerful offense after averaging over 200 yards on the ground and in the air last season. they will spread the field and throw the ball all over the place. they will complete some. the dawgs will pick four. matthew stafford serves heisman notice and knowshon moreno scores twice. georgia 51 oklahoma state 20.

GT defense too strong.Win 21-17
DAWGS victorious thanks to tough D and run game. Win 38-17
South Carolina wins but it ain't pretty. Win 21-10
SEC fan but Cal will bring it.
Vols lose 35-21 or worse!
LSU gets by Miss. State but shows its weakness at QB. LSU wins 28-14
BUT if Miss State gets an interception early and stays in the QB's face it could be a 17-14 loss for LSU.
Rev.
GO DAWGS!!!

The Dawgs could have a very good offense (this Stafford kid is unbelievable.) If receivers can catch the ball, even OSU want be able to score enough points. GT and Notre Dame game may end up looking like a high school game with two first time qb's. And by the looks of things after 11:50 seconds of the season opener, LSU ain't going to be in Atlanta on the first Sat in Dec.

UGA Takes OK State by Atleat two touchdowns

I see Tech winnig by a feild goal.

and Cal trounces UT, for the embarassment they suffered last year.

Next week should be real intresting with LSU and VT. I think LSU is a good team, but a little overrated. LSU better get it done this year, Next season Les loses all of Saban's players and has already lost his o coordinator and o-line coach!
Go Dawgs!!
