at its meeting this morning, the lamar county soil & water conservation district ratified the erosion and sedimentation control plan for a new ingles store to be built adjacent to its current building.
plans call for a car wash and multiple canopied gas pumps at the new store which will be considerably larger than the existing building.

I so would love a Publix, but I think Barnesville a little to "rural" for a Publix
no wonder their prices have shot up!
Sorry folks but Lamar County's median income is way to low for a Publix to come to B'ville. On another note...Schools in it's time for the guys to pull up their droopy britches and get to the business of learning.

Publix is where some of us could shop without mingleing with the rift-raft of Lamar Co.That is why the prices are high.The others can shop at Giant Mart, they hang out there like it's the "club" or something anyway.
I'd be in favor of a new Ingles if THEY WOULD STOCK IT! I just got back from there and several items were out of stock. There is no point at all in shopping on Sunday because most of the new prices are not put in until Monday or Tuesday.

I was never that fond of Ingle's but if I didn't want to drive to griffin or thomaston Ingles was the only grocery store to shop at. As for rif-raf you find that everywhere in Barnesville especially at giant mart. What's with Ingle's having a special spot for parents with children to park?? That is the most ridiculous thing they could have done. Kids can walk or are they getting that lazy? There is no law requiring having a parking spot such as this so I will park there whenever I can catch it empty.
things like that are why every kid you see these days is a fat little pig ,oh let me guess,they have big bones or they have ADD or what ever you want to call it,the only problem these rodents have is lazy parents stop buying twinkies and chocolete ice cream and letting them sit on their fat butts playing vedio games and watching TV

I shop at Giant Mart all the time and I do not believe I am rift-raft.
Rift-raft of Barnesville? Now I've heard it all! Seems to me most of the so-called rift-raft of Barnesville post on this blog, exposing their ignorance and narrow-mindedness.
I also, always park in the "Parents with Kids" space since I am a parent with kids...I just don't bring my kids to the store with me!

WHy not some new industry scoop... Why do we have to "redo" every thing? Why not try to get another store here through The IDA??
large retailers, fast food chains, etc. base their location decisions largely on demographics. when we reach those demographic benchmarks, they will come.
but, in some instances, you should be careful what you wish for.
I don't know why people want to complain about one store being better than the other. In my opinion they are both grocery stores and you can get good sales at both of them. As far as the Howell's go, they are really good people and they know how to serve the community. I have shopped at both stores for years and there is nothing wrong with either of them. If anyone wants to get technical, "It's all about convienance."
