county sets millage rate...
county: 8.942 mills. school board: 15.8 mills.
the commissiion also voted to seek a grant from fema to add three paid firefighter positions.
Millage? now that's a word for my simple mind to ponder. Sounds a little like siledge, something to eat, regurgitate and chew as in cud. Either some are getting fat or before long you taxpayers can buy yourselve's another foreign company.
Interesting that these millage rates were set with almost no public input but yet everyone wants to voice all these negative opinions now. Where was everyone when it was time to speak in public and voice your opinion to someones face?
To Anon11:20 I do not go to these meetings and voice my opinion because there is no point to it. Members of both the school board and the county commission at one time or another go to training sessions where they learn how to deal with public input at meetings and what they are told in effect is to say nothing and do not react. This seems to be the only thing they learn and they learn it well. I have gone to meetings and have gotten exactly that reaction. Thus, I no longer waste my time and energy.
hey anon 1:08pm (um-um: i mean Brenda Ross) I have watched you on BLTV-CH10 address the commission with so called concerns you have about industry and businesses locating here. If you would give them something to respond to maybe you would get some feed back. But your off the wall comments do not deserve a reply. If I were on the commission, I would laugh at you. so be glad they atleast allow you to speak. Maybe they allow you to speak because you make a fool of yourself.
DAMN! TALK ABOUT A TAX INCREASE: THE FIRE DEPARTMENT IS ALREADY TRYING TO ADD 9 FIRE FIGHTERS AND THEY HAVE NOT EVEN GOT THE 3 THEY ASKED FOR FIRST TIME AROUND. THE NERVE!
Better pitch in a little more to hire some more deputies,they were 4 deputies short 2 weeks ago and a sgt.quit last Friday and a lieutenant quit yesterday WAY TO GO BUICE.

8:18 why dont you tell the entire story instead of trying to stir the pot? the sgt resigned to go into fulltime military duty and the lt is taking a leave of absence to go to Iraq to be a police advisor. had nothing to do with Sheriff Buice. you idiots keep trying to make the Sheriff look bad when you are only making yourselves look like whiny little bitches. whether you like him, or dont like him, you better get used to him, cause Joe Buice will be sheriff of Lamar County for as long as he wants to run.
that must say something for buice if his employees would rather be in the military and going to war then home with their faimlies than working for him. maybe they just thought MAYBE he would be long gone by the time they come back.

Did you ever stop to consider what the crime rate would be if we did not have a sheriff who did his job? Maybe you complain so much is because you are one of the ones he has caught.

I wonder if they will look at a grant to add more sheriffs Deputies and increase their pay since they are all quiting?
And what did our SAT scores do? Scoop, do you have the scoop?

Since they keep failing to meet NCLB, why are we giving them more money to not do their job?
