In a massive flare-up of partisan tensions, Republicans walked out on a House vote late Thursday night to protest what they believed to be Democratic maneuvers to reverse an unfavorable outcome for them.
The flap represents a complete breakdown in parliamentary procedure and an unprecedented low for the sometimes bitterly divided chamber.
The rancor erupted shortly before 11 p.m. as Rep. Michael R. McNulty, D-N.Y., gaveled close the vote on a standard procedural measure with the outcome still in doubt.
Details remain fuzzy, but numerous Republicans argued afterward that they had secured a 215-213 win on their motion to bar undocumented immigrants from receiving any federal funds apportioned in the agricultural spending bill for employment or rental assistance. Democrats, however, argued the measure was deadlocked at 214-214 and failed, members and aides on both sides of the aisle said afterward.
One GOP aide saw McNulty gavel the vote to a close after receiving a signal from his leaders – but before reading the official tally. And votes continued to shift even after he closed the roll call - a strange development in itself.
Whatever the final tally, acrimony quickly exploded between lawmakers on either side of the aisle as Democratic leaders tried to plot a solution, while parliamentarians on either side argued over protocol.
Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer, D-Md., eventually offered a motion to reconsider, according to floor staff on either side, ostensibly giving members a chance to recast their votes. But the maneuver sparked a chorus of angry protests from the Republicans, yelling “shame” on Democrats, while they returned fire with angry volleys of their own.
When Democrats finally moved to consider the spending bill as the last vote of the night, furious Republicans left the chamber en masse to protest the maneuver. The House eventually recessed at 11:18 p.m. But Republicans quickly discovered that there was no longer any record of the controversial vote and immediately charged Democrats with erasing the bad result.
“Obviously, the Democrats don’t want to stand up against illegal immigration – so much so that they’re willing to cheat in order to win a vote,” Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-N.C., said in an e-mail. “They’re desperate – and it shows.”
The official House website did not show a record of the vote as of 1 a.m. Friday.

Neither party really wants to change the current immigration laws (or lack of) because the group that controls Congress (Big Business) does not want any changes. As long as profits are up, due to lower labor costs, no EFFECTIVE changes will ever be put into law.
Homeland security & Medicare cost overruns will always take a back seat to corporate profits.
The Republicans stood with the American people, with legal and deciding votes, NOT give government aid in the form of welfare, food stamps, wic, etc.. to illegal aliens. The democrats pulled a fast one to send the bill back to committee. They didn't like the outcome and could care less how the American people felt about the issue.
Illegal aliens qualify for free meals at the school....thats BS!
I am not even shocked by the Dem. congressmen's actions. These people have created a voting block of idiots wanting handouts and always have the media down the throats of anyone who slips up the slightest bit if they do not stand with them. The sad thing here is that this will not be investigated and will be swept under the rug. Any TV media attention this receives will be short and not very explanatory so that most viewers won't understand and figure since they aren't beating it to death like they do any Rep. situation then it must not be important. If a Rep. majority in this day and age had done this on an extremely hot topic such as this all hell would break loose and every dumb-ass liberal hippie college kid would be camping out in DC.
Another example why you should not vote for these clowns.

You are somewhat right about the want for change and that shows with both major parties at times, but the people with a voice in Washington DC that oppose this idea of handing out money to ILLEGAL Immigrants are, for the most part, all Republicans. They should have enough sense to be one strong voice against this issue but then again the people should have enough sense not to elect LIBERALS.

What I don't understand is why we don't build the freakin wall! We've got a serious security issue at the southern border.
Our federal government has a contractional obligation with us (the people) according to the US Constituion to provide the common defense. Bush is seriously SERIOUSLY failing on that front (pun intended).

Blame both Dems & Republicans! I don't recall the Republicans even attempting introduce any bills to change the immigration laws while they were in control of Congress.

I get tired of being told I am an immigrant, because my ancestors came here in the 1700's. I feel I have been here long enough to say this is our Nation, and we can pick and choose who come here. Jumping the border was not the way my ancestors got here. They were shipped here to get them out of UK.
Why dont we do the same. Ship out those who we want to get rid of.

I did that kind of work during summer breaks while in College. There were plenty of Americans doing that work too. (and some Mexicans of course.)

If we still need some illegal labor to do it, then when we finish the wall, we ask the illegals to check the other side to make sure that its ok. When they're on the other side, we shut the door.
We can solve the illegal immigration problem with 2 bills. One bill to build the WALL! The 2nd bill is what I would call the Foreign Exchange program. This program works like this:
1) The illegal must prove himself to be a very good worker.
2) He must have never ever ever used any of our communist social programs.
3) For every illegal that meets those previous two conditions we have to toss out some lazy welfare joker. I mean toss em over into Mexico, revoking his citizenship and don't let em back in.
if you are gonna let them work here, live here, send their kids to school here, pay taxes here, get driver licenses here, use government services here, and etc......then you gotta let them vote here.....end of story..

You pretty much said it. I do however have a problem with the N word because it does offend a lot of good friends mine. The term Redneck really doesn't offend me. It's a stupid label that I've gladly turned around as a badge of honor.
Two things you forgot to mention.
1) Bush is really a frikin lib.
2) The money that we earn is actually twisted. What I mean is, it is loaned to our guberment by the Federal Reserve (a private bank - not public. Don't let the name "Federal" deceive you.) All of which makes no frikin sense because the Constitution gives the Congress the right to print money. Any way this hard earned-twisted money of ours is loosing value daily because of inflation. This would not be so if we were again tied to gold.

Bush is not the greatest Prez. ever, but very few Presidents have had this many natural disasters, this much public pressure and defense issues as this Prez. has. You must understand that ALOT, but not all things, were either out of his control (Katrina, 911, Bridge Collapse) or inherated from past leaders who wanted a pass on that issue. We are still truckin as a nation, even though it could be alot better, but circumstances beyond this Prez.'s control have greatly limited what he planned to do for this country. He did not plan on being elected to fight a war or see hundreds of Americans be killed by Natural Disasters. Clinton could have dealt with terrorism but he chose to do as little as possible so that he could always say he had nothing to do with anything that happened unless it was a good thing.
Did you know that Clinton is the Prez. who put NAFTA in place and this was the serving Prez. when Osama declared Jihad against the USA? I will also be honest and say that it was a Rep. maj. in congress and I myself do not have a problem with NAFTA. American QUALITY should overcome any foriegn good or service IF we can just get all the tax burdens out of the way. If things keep going the way they are-HUGE trade deficeit, Social Security on the Brink, Dumbass Americans that can't say no to buying things they can't afford, The actual praise of more Socialized ANYTHING- our country will either be forced to tax the living hell out of us- NO NO- or cut Gov. benefits that are not being used as designed anyways and boost our businesses through the FAIRTAX PLAN.

socialized medicine is now a dirty word in america....drug co. and ins co has killed that phrase along with national health care .....I am a firm believer in medicare.....medicare is a very cheap program...for the amount of care the person gets for the cost to the gov. and cost to the person.....cant imagine this country without medicare.....and the people help pay for part of the cost thru deductibles and copays and monthly fees for part B and drug part......why cant we let all americans of all ages participate in medicare....it would lower the cost for all...spread the risks from young to old.....ins. co. could participate like they do now in medicare suppliments....could cut the medicade roles....drug co would be happy cause everyone would be covered.....hosp and doctors would be happy because no indigent patients.....employers should be happy to get the burden off their backs......everyone would be covered and would pay for the ins (medicare) along with their tax.....therefore if someone shows up in e.r. or dr. office with no medicare care , that means he hasnt been paying tax on wages and the I R S should be called in to see if he is illegal or just guilt of tax fraud........It is workable and would end up being cheaper than what we have now....it is not socialized med....but the downfall is that the republican bigshots would never go for it, because they dont want everyone to have the same coverage.....a republican had rather make 10 dollars if other make 5...than to have everyone make 20
If the gov't would stop giving these handouts to people who are too lazy to work then the older generation that worked and put into the system would not have to do without food to pay their drug bill. Make these lazy people get out and work and pay for insurance for their kids instead of getting medicaid or peachcare, or welefare and foodstamps then the country would not be going overseas to get their products made by people who are willing to work for a little of nothing just to be able to feed their families. The Coming Break-Up of America

Thomas W. Chittum, author of, "Civil War Two: The Coming Breakup of America," brings concrete historical evidence to the impending conflicts in America. By looking around, you, the average American, can see this
nightmare building.
If you're not living in California, Arizona, Colorado, Texas, Miami, Florida, Georgia, New York, Detroit, Michigan, Chicago, Illinois -- you might not see it ,but it's coming and it's coming fast.
Chittum states, "Street gangs will doubtless form the core of future black and Hispanic urban militias. Consider the following: .they are well financed by drug trade, they are ethnically-oriented, heavily armed, organized and disciplined and numerous beyond belief."
That statement is born out by the latest statistics whereby 29 percent of our state and federal prisons are filled with legal and illegal immigrants.
Former Attorney General Janet Reno put gang member totals on our streets at 500,000. Chittum states, "Their leadership is composed of courageous, industrious and intelligent men because promotion is based on leadership, business acumen and application of ruthless violence."
When you look at the massive drug trade infecting this country, it's evident. "These urban gangs are evolving into serious armies, armies hostile to the established government." It's why 800,000 Californians fled their state last year. In Miami, American citizens fled north.
Detroit is fast becoming exclusively Arabic. Fremont, Calif., is exclusively Middle Eastern in population. Los Angeles is no longer an American city.
As their numbers grow, police can't touch them because of "Special Order 40," which gives them immunity from arrest and deportation. Such governors as Baldacci in Maine and Arizona's Governor Janet Napolitano, a liberal Democrat, directly break immigration laws by passing ordinances, encouraging more illegal aliens and giving them sanctuary. The governor of Minnesota openly encourages massive illegal alien importation. He's pushed by meatpacking plant owners who openly hire illegal aliens. Austin, Minnesota suffers from more than 3,000 illegal aliens working in the meatpacking plants. Citizens are left without jobs while a few people make millions at the top.
Governor Bill Owens of Colorado does nothing to stop illegals in his state. Will Toor, mayor of Boulder, Colorado, openly encourages illegal aliens with sanctuary laws in his city. Eight women were raped last summer by illegals, but Toor continues supporting their presence in the city with jobs and housing. Immigration lawyers in Boulder brazenly present classes on how to avoid arrest and deportation for illegals.
It's astounding our own civic leaders aid, assist and abet this invasion against federal law.
How lethal are these gangs? Newsweek reported that there was a U.S. Justice Department "Street Gang Symposium" in Johnstown, Pa., in November of 1994: "Some gangs have access to highly sophisticated personal weapons such as grenades, machine guns, rocket launchers and military explosives."
"When civil authority breaks down in America," Chittum states, "our criminal gangs will fill the power vacuum, just exactly as has been the pattern in Third World countries."
Chittum quotes another dictator who succeeded: "A revolution is not a bed of roses," said Fidel Castro. "A revolution is a struggle to the death between the future and the past."
With 9.2 Mexicans now living on U.S. soil, a dozen cities sporting 51-percent foreign born immigrants, more than three million Middle Eastern immigrants enclaving against American values, it's a case of: Houston, we've got a problem. One of the aspects of the disintegration of Rome stemmed from its importation of Vandals that neither cared about Rome nor gave allegiance. In the end, they 'enclaved' more of their own until they became more powerful, by sheer numbers, than Romans.
The cult of 'diversity' and 'multiculturalism' being jammed down Americans' throats by both parties is an example of self-induced national suicide -- just like the Romans.
In a recent speech, former Colorado Governor Dick Lamm said, "My sixth point for America's downfall would be to include dual citizenship and promote divided loyalties. I would celebrate diversity over unity. I would stress differences rather than similarities.
Diverse people worldwide are mostly engaged in hating each other. That is when they are not killing ach other."
Chittum writes about economic collapse. He talks about how our own Congress ramrods two million immigrants down our throats annually while outsourcing, insourcing and offshoring jobs to other countries. How can we ever maintain a decent standard of living by adding 2.3 million people annually into the USA? Doesn't anyone 'get it' that the reason they are running out of Mexico and China stems from the fact that they can't feed, work, educate or clothe their own populations that explode out of control? Why create the same crisis here?
This year, American Flyer, the little red wagon that we all pulled in our childhoods -- offshored its production to China. But thousands of companies are moving production out of our country and leaving our people in unemployment lines. It's a lose-lose situation for U.S. citizens.
Chittum talks about Phases of Civil War II:
1.Tribalization, or the undermining of the concept of citizenship.
2. The creeping loss of democracy to private, governmental institutions and international bodies.
3. Gradually falling wages.
4. The slow decay of infrastructure in our cities and the abandonment by Americans and their replacement by minorities wedded to welfare and affirmative action.
5. Growing legal and illegal immigration to transform America into a typical Third World country.
6. Massive drive for gun control to cripple military potential from the working class.
7. Cooperation of the mass media to dumb down the population.
Near the end of the book Chittum makes projections that
you can see happening right now:
1.Shrinking hourly wage.
2. More immigrants than Americans.
3. Foreigners hold most federal debt.
4. Twenty million Third-World slums on our borders known as :colonias."
5. Manufacturing jobs moved out of the USA, making it impossible for us to make or sell anything to the world.
6. Republican and Democratic politicians refusing to deal with the immigration crisis. Worse, both parties aid and
abet it.
7. Growing power of advocates of Aztlan, the reconquest of California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas by Mexico.
I must tell you fellow Americans this fact. Our country is in deep trouble and worsening fast. I spent two weeks on the border this spring from El Paso to San Diego. Immigrants successfully pour over our borders at 2,000 to 3,000 per day. That is upwards of one million annually. I saw them loading up in buses. I saw them squashed 30 to a van. I saw them crawling through the desert bush with my night vision scope. I interviewed Border Patrol officers who are hamstrung by Congress. The illegals they catch, they release on the border only to try again until they succeed. I saw the safe houses. I saw the lay-up areas. I saw the millions of pounds of trash left in the desert. I saw the invasion first-hand.
What can you do? Democracy is not a spectator sport. You need to start acting, writing, calling, pushing, shoving and screaming at your mayors, radio stations, newspapers and reps that you're tired of this invasion. Demand a 10-year moratorium for all immigration, now! Demand troops on the border. Demand English as our only language.
Demand no benefits for illegal aliens. Demand passage of S. 2671, the Clear Act. Demand HR 946 be passed to shut down legal immigration to fewer than 300,000 per year. Demand no amnesty for illegals. Demand that deportations begin. Demand the rule of law be followed and employers of illegals be arrested. Write me for action plans of what to do. Every letter will be answered.
Will Chittum's book prove prophetic? Will Rome's history become our history? It all depends on you.
