i found the youtube video. several of us discussed on saturday how easy it would be for someone to put the day's events on that website. not so great for the town's reputation, huh?
Does Ms. Weatherbee know what happened after the festival on Mill St. when the young black men decided to act like the N word? It's not the town's reputation that got shown up that night.
It was evident from all the trash left on the side walks, post office steps, curbs, etc. something negative happened downtown over the weekend. I am glad I was not in town over the weekend to see it but I hear it was "typical".
We had friends from out of town visiting over the weekend. They cam ein on Thursday evening and spent time in town Friday eating and shopping downtown. They were most impressed with Barnesville, downtown, Gordon Campus, the historic district, the people they encountered in passing. But when Saturday festivities hit especially at night, they were glad they had been here earlier to get a good first impression. If they had come in to town on Satuday evening they would have hurried out of town not to ever return. Just out of control up to no good crowds roaming the streets with litter.
If we are going to have things of the sort, lets have some order.
Buggy Days use to be crazy too. At least it has order to it now. And yes they were usually white rednecks causing all the trouble. I can say that cause I am white and (a former redneck) who use to be one of the Buggy Days party animals. But we cleaned up and it is time others did too.
I wonder if the Chinese that are making a big investment in Barnesville have seen the video. I centainly hope not. If they have I hope they wont change their minds.
NO you dont understand if barnesville has the festival they should understand that if the streets fill up with people who have no respect for themselves or there AND OUR community thats what you get.
I to am a (former redneck) And we had respect for OUR community. You got to give it to us if we tore somthing up we didnt paint a gang sign on it and walk off. The next day we went back and fixed it, Then said IM SORRY, (that is if we couldint fix it before they found out)... THATS CALLED RESPECT!!
IM SURE that no matter where you are in town or how new you are here it will be evident you can park a car in a fire lane if you have LOUD RAP MUSIC PLAYING AND YOU ARE NOT EVEN IN YOUR CAR! Im sorry but i dont care if its a gas station or red lobster,I will not spend my money there if theres a car in the lot whith nobody in it and the radio so loud every body can hear it. Maby mama and daddy didnt play with these ass holes when they wer kids, didnt teach them respect for them selves or anybody else, They think its cool to trash a place cause they already trashed there place and want the city or county to fix it for them so they can trash it agean. Speaking on parking in the fire lane. Can't these people read or they just don' give a fat rats ass. It would not do for me to be in law inforcement because the laws would be obeyed or the sorry suckas would be fined up the wazoo. What also galls me is someone I know who parks in the fire lane, who has a handicap sticker and then doesn't even get out of the vehicle I know the kids are not handicapped so why does she feel it is her priviledge to park in the front door when the fat lazy pig don't walk.

Nigga- the spelling, pronounciation, meaning and usage of the word has been changed to convey pride and defiance, thereby removing the racial distinctness of the orginal term. Another good example for the meaning of N.I.G.G.A- "NEVER IGNORANT GETTING GOALS ACCOMPLISHED". Should we take more time to educate the meaning of this day- yes we should. By the way anytime an event is held there will be trash left behind. Could we have more control over the festivities-yes. Maybe more events could have also been offered. I think someone made a comment there was crowds out of control up to no good roaming the streets. Were you are your friends harmed, robbed, or offended in anyway by the crowd? How can you say they were out of control and up to no good? Barnesville should offer more things for the population to do. Instead of being scared of growth. To the former redneck- how can you say you are a former redneck? How were you a redneck and not one now? How can you label them as uneducated animals? We were put on this earth to help others. This would include teaching others. If you feel they are uneducated please feel free to offer a class. Make sure you offer the class in a building because these are human beings- not animals. If we are going to have a Black Arts Festival how about organizing and having one. So with all the growth and attention coming to Barnesville why are we not progressing? We have a fire department with only 3 full time employees. We have a police department that is not even open at night with the same number of officers we had in 1970. So why would we want to start making sense and actually do something right? We would rather have Nigga Day and blame it on the blacks and the blacks can complain about being degraded by the whites. WELCOME TO BARNESVILLE!
