That's a bit of a difference. Get folks riled up saying something like that.

A stadium that holds 2500 people and cost 10 million dollars.

People; yall better wake up and smell the bacon cause somebody gettin screwed.

10 million, an amount that is out of the question. I still say no to SPLOST as long as the stadium is part of the effort. The Jock Sniffers and pay for it themselves, and leave the taxpayers alone.

2500, 25000 or 25 million - why should the taxpayers pay for a stadium?

Note to self -- always double check scoops numbers. I may have to go back and recheck some old advertising bills now.

Can Lamar County High School host a playoff game as an AA school with 2500 seats? How about an AAA school and this is where the enrollment is headed. If we are going to build, let's build with the future in mind so the stadium will not be outdated when the work is completed.

Ok, lets not build a new stadium or put $2 mil in the high school. So lets build a brand new high school that will cost the tax payers of Lamar a outrageous amount of money. Unless you want to owe hundred of millions of dollars I suggest we vote yes. If you haven't been in the high school lately, visit, oh yeah some of you attended it back in the dark age when it was new, who was president Lincoln. A new school is out of the question, but updates are needed and if the SPLOST is voted down, than watch those mil rates, up,, up, up and away, someone has to pay.

I'm not voting for a new stadium when they had one of the best stadiums in the state but traded it away.

They should have spent a hundred thousand fixing the old one.

What about that 50 million the IDA is loaning to the chinese? Here comes another plastics plant, one where we are afraid to charge taxes or they will pick up their marbles and go home.
Scoopy gets his numbers wrong on the IDA too. It isn't 500 jobs the Chinese are creating, it is maybe 200. The 500 is spin from the IDA.

The chinese aren't bringing 100 million. They are borrowing 50 million through the IDA. Spin spin spin spin. Make it look like they are bringing a treasure chest of money when the fact is we are giving them hundreds of thousands of dollers for every minimum wage job they might bring. I never thought I'd see the day when Americans gave Communists money just to get a crumb back.

Scoop is afraid to start an IDA blog now that the truth is out, isn't he?

vote no----a stadium will do nothing for the comunity but raise more jocksniffers and thug wanna-be michael pricks, there is so much more that the money could be spent on ANON 10:20 you are right on the money

Anonymous said...

1:02 you're an idiot. It don't work that way.

I agree the high school needs work, so let's spend money on it instead of a stadium. As long as the stadium is in, my vote will be no.

WOW.. as an outsider looking in I see ZERO pride in what your kids are doing. How may college bound kids are going because of sports? Where's the community pride? Have you been to the football field and seen the people standing everywhere? Have you not tried to sit in a crowd? It's embarrasing. Again, NO PRIDE IN LAMAR SCHOOLS!! It speaks volumes towards our future!! No wonder kids wanna leave after graduation!!

If you can't spell 'dollars', one couldn't expect you to understand bond financing.

If you want to see an industry that bailed out on agreements with the local community, look no farther than Carter's mill.

Anonymous said...

The reason Carters bailed is because of the sorry work force that Barnesville provided. Those people want a check in the mailbox while they hang out at Sonny's and throw bricks through windshields.

Where is the 50Million, the IDA is loaning the Chinese? The Lamar County Taxpayers? I think the IDA Members should personally put up the money, since they are so smart.

Anonymous said...

It doesnt matter to me if the stadium holds 2500 people, 25000 people or 5 people. I cannot vote tax money to build it.

Anonymous said...

inside the numbers......
2500=The number of seats.
10,000,000= The cost.
0=The # of wins for the Trojans.

"The reason Carters bailed is because of the sorry work force that Barnesville provided" and the chinese will soon find out and it wont take them as long as it did carters, the bums in barnesville wont last long under chinese bosses i was suprised at how long it took yamaha to close

Tell the truth people. You don't want another penny going toward little black kids and poor white kids unfortunate enough to have to go to public school in Lamar Co. Why don't you folks pay for SGES a play ground so they can stop using the public facilities in Milner Park?

11:05 is an excellent example of the ignorance breeding in our county.

Why did Lamar County name their football team after a prophylactic?

Anonymous said...

they didnt 6:32 stop wearing a condom over your head it cuts off your oxygen supply

Anonymous said...

No I'm not trying to copy our board members. Or you can call-em rubber heads, cepting all the "stupid" leaks out and gets all over the county.

A new stadium seems to be the big issue. Ok, lets take the stadium out of the equation. Lets just put enough seats in the stadium to legally hold a playoff game. However, the bigger picture is the much needed money needed for the schools. I was in the high school last year, it is ashame that we have power sources dropping from the ceiling. LCHS is still usable, but is desperate need of new updates. The money is also needed for an auditorum (excuse the spelling if wrong. Extending the lunchroom to accomodate for larger meetings. The bottom line is money is needed to update. I hate to say it if SPLOST isn't passed, than homeowners grab your wallets, because taxes will increase and there is nothing any of us can do about it.

Anonymous said...

1:15 The state doesn't provide money to build new schools but there's millions available from the state to update/renovate schools.

Why is everyone eager to give your money away?

Anonymous said...

A penny here, a penny there. It adds up. But if it isn't handled right it still amounts to nothing. Can we trust our board members to spend the money we give them appropriately? The same people who botch things up keep getting elected leading me to believe the answer is no.

Anonymous said...

The IDA isn't lending anyone any money. The purchasers of the bonds are. I continue to be amazed at how ignorant people can be.

See what not proofreading can do?If half of the people who posted on these blogs would read what they have typed even they wouldn't understand it. Maybe someone should get a dictionary and look up the words before typing them. Or maybe they sould learn where the keys are on the keyboard.
A little type-o now can lead to big headaches later

Anonymous said...

That's right! A good example would be typing "sould" instead of should.

There ARE new board members and a new Superintendent, and they should not be compared to the BOE of old.

Anonymous said...

Yes, a new superintendent. I recond you had your head up your butt because the members are still the same.

Anonymous said...

No, they are not all the same, so you must have your head up your butt. I believe there are two new BOE members.

If schools are not funded by government money, then how are they to operate? Even schools in the richest districts rely on government funding. What do you propose, home schooling for everyone, or educations only for those wealthy enough to pay private school tuition? YOU need to wake up.

Because when we named the trojans back in the '70's Trojans were not commonly known or associated with condoms. Get you head out of the gutter and the trojans off your head and I don't mean the head down there.
