more on buckner shooting...

from the griffin daily news...

The Spalding County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred Thursday morning at the intersection of South McDonough and Rehoboth roads.

The victim has been identified as 44-year-old Teresa Buckner Turner, of Barnesville.

Officials were notified of the situation when a call was placed to Spalding County 911 at approximately 6:05 a.m. reporting a suspected domestic dispute with shots fired.
When the first officer arrived at the location, Turner was found to be lying in the driver’s seat of a white Chevrolet Impala, the victim of a violent assault.

Spalding County Coroner Sonny Foster arrived at 6:35 a.m. and pronounced Turner dead at the scene.

“She had multiple gunshot wounds,” Foster said. “She had two in her arm, three in her chest and one in the head.”
Turner’s body was subsequently transported to the GBI crime lab in Decatur, where an autopsy is scheduled to be performed this morning.

Capt. Tony Ranieri of the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, who reported authorities were questioning a person of interest in the case later in the day, and that officials also returned to the scene twice Thursday afternoon, utilizing dogs in their search for evidence, said the investigation is ongoing at this time.

“I think it’s probably going to wind up as a domestic,” Foster said. “It’s just sad that people can’t sit down and have a conversation with someone and work things out instead of taking someone’s life. There’s not anything that can’t be worked out. There has to be another way -- a better way.”
