I see by your message that you are one of those that makes minimum wage and rightly so I might add. Get an education and show up on time every day and you can get a job that pays more than minimum. Also you have to be prepared to work hard at whatever you do.

The only problem I see here is alot of the higher paying jobs will be reduced to minimum wage jobs. So the politicians will be able to brag about more jobs, but not tell you there are less jobs at a higher wage.

The ones that complaine the most are the CEOs and big executives of companies. Those with 6 and 7 figure incomes. Hard working business owners usually pay their employees much better than miminum wage.
Oh and before some butthole has a smart ass remark to make. I make $35 hour and find it hard at times.
i also am in the upper pay range managing a very large company in Atl. We pay minimum wage to production workers and usually only give cost of living raises once a year (3%-4%). We have employees with 10 years plus who have no ambition to better themselves or grow with the company. This is the norm in this geographical area. The production labor pool that we pull from is truly the bottom of the barrel. I have said it before and ill say it again, anyone who wants a good job already has one.
Please dont invite more government regulations, they have their noses in private industry far too much already.

I agree with 4:54. Good companies understand that employees are an integral part of the process. Treating them right and paying them right will make a difference. Of course hiring selection counts quite a bit. To attract the best you have to be the best. Winners don't work for losers. Everything hinges on leadership. An employee can't be better than the leaders he works for. If he is he'll go elsewhere. Obviously by your attitude about your employees, you're not a winner yourself. Treat your employees with respect. If your expectations of them are low then they'll live down to them.

You are not in the widget business, you are in the people business. How you treat those employees and interact with those employees will determine what kind of company you have. The days of a company riding roughshod over their employees are way in the past. The most successful companies are the ones that care about their employees. Check out "The Top 100 Companies in America". Everyone of them has programs to benefit their employees. And they don't pay minimum wage.
People living in third world countries don't make $5.85 a week, if they are lucky enough to have a job. Americans are spoiled rotten and very materialistic.

i have over the years tried to help a bunch of min. wagers. i would say that less that 1% actually wanted the help, the rest were content where they were and i say screw em'.

I’ll tell you one thing. It ticks me off that my friend makes 8 per hour, the same as me, and he doesn't have a High School diploma or a G.E.D! I have a High School diploma and 4 years of Technical Collage. He works at Quad staking mags. I work as a graphic designer.
I do believe that I’m under paid. The only difference with my job and his is that I love my job too much to leave and he hates his job and wants to leave.
I just hate the fact that someone flipping burgers will eventually be making about as much as me!
I don’t see the point in raising the minimum wage. It will just raise prices.
If they get a raise so should I, so lets jut drop the whole thing and call it even!
