Feds: Vick Dogs Electrocuted, Shot

ATLANTA -- When a Bad Newz Kennels dog was wounded in a losing fight, NFL star Michael Vick was consulted before the animal was doused with water and electrocuted.
That's just one of the gruesome details that emerged Tuesday when the Atlanta Falcons quarterback and three others were indicted by a federal grand jury.
The four were charged with competitive dogfighting, procuring and training pit bulls for fighting and conducting the enterprise across state lines.
The 18-page indictment, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, alleged the 27-year-old Vick and his co-defendants began the dogfighting operation in early 2001, the former Virginia Tech star's rookie year as the No. 1 pick.
The operation was centered at a property Vick owned in Surry County, where a fence shielded prying eyes from the back, and the two-story brick home was surrounded by fencing in the front, with several black buildings further back.
Unlike previous documents, which did not name Vick, the indictment is littered with his name, including this tidbit -- Vick was known as "Ookie" in the dogfighting world.
If convicted of all the charges, Vick and the others -- Purnell A. Peace, 35, of Virginia Beach; Quanis L. Phillips, 28, of Atlanta; and Tony Taylor, 34, of Hampton -- could face up to six years in prison, $350,000 in fines and restitution.
A woman who answered the phone at the home of Vick's mother, Brenda Boddie, said "no comment" and quickly hung up.

With all the controversy surrounding Vick in the past couple years, this is not suprising.
Millions and millions of dollars for endorsements and running around throwing interceptions and fumbling a football......and you get caught dabbing $2,000 here and there for some dog fighting....Is this guy this stupid or what? Good-bye Michael.
I heard about this a few years ago from someone who bred pitbulls around here and knew of Vicks interest in this, it was only a matter of time before the idiot Mike "SICK" Vick was caught. The sad thing is how some of these animals were alledgely killed after they lost the fight or were found to be a weak fighter including being HUNG, DROWNED, ELECTROCUTED, SHOT and picked up and SLAMMED on the ground until they were dead. I spoke to my friend yesterday and he said he was fully aware of the shooting and electocuting but had never heard or witnessed the other sicko ways to put them "out of thier misery". The race card will surely be played in one way or another and Vick will still be the dumbest Quarterback ever drafted, played, and hopefully traded.
WHERE IN THE HELL IS PETA, if this were John Rocker (or any white person that ever even cut the grass in a stadium in Atlanta)we would have non stop coverage of PETA and all da Brothers that care bout da childrens and dey veiw of professional playas by dees childrens marching around the dome demanding his head.

It's a hard hearted person who could do such a thing. It is not sporting watching dogs mame and kill each other is for someone with a sick mind. He needs to be treated with the same respect he has given to his animals which was none. When a dog hurts does it not holler when it is cut does it not bleed red blood. The Chuck Lidell versus Tito Ortiz fight was the most watched pay per view event of 2006. The casinos said more money was waged on that fight than any fight in UFC history. The irony of it all, to me, is that it's ok for us to watch and gamble on people fighting and trying to hurt each other but if someone watches dogs fight they are the worst possible scum on the earth.
If they tortured the dogs when they lost a fight, maybe the same should have been done to Vick when he lost games..
wdm...While i normally agree with alot of your veiws and opinions, There is a difference between the UFC and dog fighting...
1.) Chuck and Tito have the option to say "no" they don't want to fight. This is a decision they made of their own accord. The dogs aren't given a choice. or the option to say "no".
2.) Not sure of the outcome of the UFC bout, but I am sure the loser was not tortured and killed.
In Extreme fighting, These people train and are aware of all the risks involved and choose to do it anyway. The animals just are'nt given a choice.

Because human beings have the choice of whether they want to fight. Dogs are not human but should be because they have more repect for people than humans do.
