ATLANTA - Former U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinney has filed a lawsuit against The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, claiming the paper libeled her in at least two editorials and a news article.
The lawsuit was filed Thursday in Fulton County State Court against the newspaper, its parent company, Cox Enterprises, as well as its publisher, managing editor and editorial page editor Cynthia Tucker.
Among other allegations, the lawsuit alleges the paper contained libelous and defamatory statements in two of Tucker's 2006 columns, including one about the congresswoman's altercation with a Capitol Hill police officer in a Washington office building. That column was included in a submission that won Tucker the Pulitzer Prize earlier this year.
The lawsuit seeks unspecified compensatory and punitive damages.

I know many blacks that think her actions are foolish. It isn't a race thing...she is just an ignorant person who loves attention. She happens to be black, so she uses that excuse when she can, but she is an embarrasment to her own race as well as to the state of Georgia.

Just another fat lipped black woman who thinks that she is owed everything.The video of that encounter showed very clearly that she did attack the police officer. How can that be considered libel and defamatory. If the shoe fits wear it.

Cynthia McKinney is probably going to wind up paying attorneys fees for abusive litigation. She is a public figure and will have to prove that 1) the statements were untrue, and 2) they were made with the intent to harm. She will never get past the first hurdle
