the governments involved, apparently confident in their own legal advice, seem unconcerned about the citizen challenge and have adopted a 'damn the torpedoes; full speed ahead' attitude toward their future plans for the properties involved.

The city, county, and the board of education have been doing whatever they want for so long now that I believe they think they can continue without worrying about what the public thinks. This must be the first time they have really been challenged by the public and I think they thought it would all disappear if they rushed to exchange the land and money. I thought the differences was only between the city and county but all of a sudden the board of education slipped in the side door and the IDA will more than likely enter into the picture soon when the 67 acres gets sold. For all I know they might be the future owners.
I think it’s a bad thing that citizens had to enlist an attorney against their leaders but I think it’s equally bad that their leaders would not listen to the people that put them into their positions. I’m sure the county commissioners thought they were making a compromise, but they actually come out of this looking like the biggest fools in the county.
