A brick-throwing incident on Mill Street near its intersection with 12th Street in Barnesville marred an otherwise quiet Independence Day holiday here.
The incident occurred just after midnight on July 5 when a the glass in a vehicle occupied by two white females was shattered. Brick fragments were found in the roadway after police were summoned.
Investigator Al Moltrum reported a witness said there were about 20 black males standing around in the area at the time the brick was thrown. One witness said the thrower was a black male with a red shirt.
A reward is offered. Citizens with information should contact Moltrum at 770-358-1244.

What bussiness does 2 white female have on Mill St. after midnight anyway? They consider themselves lucky, it could have been worse.

I think it's about time something was done about Mill Street. It's the first thing people see when they enter our city from the interstate and it's embarressing.

Maybe they were using the brick for a football,and the intended receiver used good judgement in letting it go on by.
i know who the victims were. they were just passing through on their way home from a fireworks display.

Last time I checked Mill Street was a public street and it shouldn't matter who travels it at any time. Didn't know whites were not supposed to be over there. Who is the racist now?

So my post was deleted because it contained an offensive suggestion for what two white women were doing on Mill Street after midnight. Perhaps this time, these two victims were just passing through, but more often the white women on Mill Street are there for a specific reason and it isn't because they live there.
Yea right, I see a lot of white woman parking on Mill street late at night. Unfortunately, this is the major thoroughfare to Barnesville from I-75, and this happened right down the street from the police department. Unbelievable!

There are only two patrolmans on shift. Day and night. Just like back in the 70's this city is way behind. But K.R. doesn't care, as long as he makes his $100,000 a year he happy.
and those two patrolmen are usually out of the four lane pulling over cars or on some remote street doing license checks NOT in the city area serving and protecting the citizens. they want to make light of the county wide license check but they use the only two people they have on duty to do license checks every shift of every day. no wonder so much crime is committed and gotten away with in the city overnight.

I know when I worked the second shift from 3p.m. to 1 a.m. I would cut through that way to get home quicker so don't ask what business anyone has in that area at any time. Its a free country and a free street so it should not matter what time it is.
What about exit street along 41 talk about an eyesore they also need to clean that area up it is also one of the first areas people see when coming to Barnesville.
Look at mill st. How many men do you see 18 to 35 years old? plenty. This is the time to work and build a life not stand on the corner and sell drugs.Get off your ass and get a job,have some self respect.or at least some respet for yo on hood. or does it make you proud dat d popo is in yo shit?
You mean to tell me that when i'm going through one of the city police road blocks that those are the only two officers on duty and they are tied up doing that while my home and family and business are left unprotected??? That is just stupid and wrong!!! Something needs to be done about this. Who is in charge of this fiasco?
I think when the city has roadblocks they have extra people come in and work.
When I see them at night they are usually walking all over town checking to make sure the business owners locked their doors. Now I think that is stupid!
There is only so much 2 officers can do. Even if they werent doing license checks or checing buildings, how much time do you think is being spent protecting your home or family, etc? That should be your job anyway. Are you one of those people who leave money in an unlocked car and then bitch because it was stollen? What a dumb comment.
Of course the more officers and deputies you have the better your area will be covered or rode thru. But it's not fair to put the total responsibilties on law enforecment.Look at it from the criminal point of view they know where the officers are and what they are doing. They work around law enforcement to do what they want to do.
You ever noticed how some people complain about not enough patrolling going on, and other people say not enough being done about speeders,dui's etc etc...it's really hard for law enforcement to please everybody.Especially a city like b'ville with only 2 working at a time.
If you have more than two then you have to pay them. More officers, more taxes. More taxes, more complaining. More complaining, less gets done. And so the world goes round.
IF I leave money in my car locked or unlocked you better not mess with it. If whoever it is is such sorry trash i got to lock my car to keep my stuff safe from them,TO HELL WITH THEM! I heard that Barnesville had several ignorant/racist people, but now I see it first hand. People please wake up!!!I review the latest sex offenders list before I decided where I was going to move, and to my surprise, several of the offenders are were in what was considered the "upper class" neighbor hood. The surprise.........even Thomaston St. (no longer on the list; must have paid someone off...LOL as hell). Never did I see anything on Mill St. I wish that everyone could just realize there are ignorant people of all races. My black neighbors are the best friends that I have had in a long time.
I'm a Black African American Queen. I am proud of who I am, but if someone threw a brick at their car. It's doesn't matter what color they are. Wrong is Wrong. It's nothing wrong with living on Mill Street , the Police Dept. is on the same street. They see exactly what goes on. If they don't then they are just ignoring some of the problems. Perhaps we might need to look at them and see if they are actually doing there job. The only thing I see African American do wrong is sell illegal drugs they get from certain white people and I know this for a fact. You have one king-pin that has escape from Lamar County Jail and they haven't caught him yet and he live right here in GA. and has probably been on the so call run for 10 years. He haven't been caught and they are not trying to catch him. So maybe it's not a racist thing. It's just and ignorant "Uncle Tom" selling crack for his Master as our ancestor's did along time ago when they were picking cotton for them. We didn't have a choice back then because of slavery, but we have a choice now. We need to learn to stick together and stop trying to put each other down and just work hard for what we want and stop excepting the easy way to make money and doing thing which is wrong and illegal. When we make mistake and wrong decision it's nobody fault but ours. Quit making excuses and admit when you're wrong. Some of the same people that live on Mill Street, does some work on the other side of track which is Thomaston Street and if I thought some of these people was bad. I sure wouldn't want them in my yard doing work for me. Would I be wrong to say "Rich" white people gives their children anything they want, beside teaching them responsibilty for working for what they want and need. Some of these rich kids or on herion, cocaine, speed,and anything else they can get high on. Let be careful who we sterotype and what we say. They might just be the one that have to save our lives one day. The Bible talks about being Blameless. Lets look in the mirror at ourselves and see if we can correct our own faults. Instead of blaming others for our mistakes.

If all of you all worry about how many police we have working a shift. Then some of you that are so concern need to apply for a position. Our police can't do it all. Why don't all of you all help protect our community and stop complaing. If you see something is wrong in your town, Then do something about it.
