Georgia and other states will not lower the drinking age, because they will lose millions in federal highway funds. The feds blackmailed the states into raising the age. UNtil 18-20 year olds mobilize and target and defeat a couple of congressmen on this issue, nothing will happen. Politicians don't mess with social security out of the goodness of their hearts. They know older voters will rip them if they do. On this issue the ball is in the 18-20's court.
NO - MOST PEOPLE ACT TO STUPID AT OVER 21. IF ANYTHING THEY SHOULD RAISE IT UNTIL GROWN CHILDREN GOW UP
The limit was 18 for several years back in the 70s. I believe the number of accidents were way up. Since it has been raised to 21 the number of deaths has gone down. Fairly simple math. The arguments for lowering it never take into consideration the increase in deaths due to more and younger people drinking.
The lower death toll had little to do with the drinking age, but rather was the result of tougher DUI laws.
Oh yeah....there was a guy on the news the other day being arrested for his 38th DUI.....
We have been across this track before. It caused alot of problems with the under 21, with auto accidents, untimely deaths, and many other problems. I think this is an issue that should be left on the table to die a natural death.
