longtime county employee honored...


j.w. walker was honored by the county today at a retirement banquet at the courthouse.

walker, the county road superintendent, retired after 46.5 years of service. he was lauded by commissioners and others and received several gifts, including a new fishing rod.

Wow. 46.5 years of service. That is great. I don't know Mr. Walker, but I believe anyone who works over 46 years in one place must be of strong character. Congratulations to you and enjoy your retirement.

Hell his grandmother would make a better sheriff than whats there now.

The county of lamar would be in for a pretty sad state of affairs if he were to run for sherrif. Hope it never happens.
