funeral pocketbook thief busted...

after someone who knew the man involved saw the surveillance photo here. the man is identified as kenneth chuck blair, a 44-year-old career criminal.

blair was arrested in fort valley this morning by milner police chief brad white. white has a line on the whereabouts of blair's female companion and officers are clsoing in on her at present.

the maroon honda accord the pair were in was - big surprise! - stolen.

Walter, thanks for the up to the minute news on this. I went to the "history station" and saw they had it on this evening. It was good to learn of this at noon today.

Keep on keeping us informed on a timely basis.

GO BRAD!

SHERIFF White, I mean!

Keep on doing what you are doing and don't lose your personable touch and you will be the next Sheriff if you want it.

what a joke, this guy needs to be put away for good. he's a career criminal running the streets, makes me feel all safe and warm inside. it's like those damn sex offenders, they plead to a lesser sentence and get probation, makes me sick. but we'll put petty offenses in jail for life.i think our judicial system needs a good smack up side the head.
Brad has my vote.

let me get this straight, Brad White uses a tip from someone who called the sheriff's department and nabs a couple of pocketbook snatchers and he is an instant hero and the sheriff's department uses a tip to shut down a major drug manufacturer and they couldnt have done it without help? hmmmmmm dont get me wrong, Cheif White did a good job using the information he got to make a case but any of you idiots that are always on here grilling the sheriff couldve made the case as well since it was basically handed to you by a TIP.
hypothetical theory here, say Brad does run for sheriff and wins, the same people will be on here then talking about what a crappy sheriff he is because he busted you or your friends. give it a rest.

Good point.

I think the point is that Brad knows how to treat people with respect....especially the people that work for him.

dane bishop for sheriff. now that is progress

Brad has what? four people that work for him. there are 50+ employees with totally different personalities that work for the sheriff and some of those who he has "treated badly" decided to do their own thing for the most part. the sheriff is an electied official and his job depends, not only on his own conduct, but also by how he is portrayed by the people who work for him so he must step on some toes when needed. Brad is a hired employee. although, in a sense, the sheriff is hired by the people who elect him, Brad only needs to keep the municipal council that hired him happy. but i guarantee you if one of his traffic cops got out of line he would correct the problem. again, not saying Brad wouldnt make a fine sheriff, just saying there is nothing wrong with the current administration. the bottom line is, if you keep your nose clean then Joe Buice is the least of your worries

i would vote for dane in a minute

I hear there are quite a few dirty noses at the SO. And by the way, it doesn't matter how many people you have under you to be a good leader.
I would like to know what the turn over rate for the SO has been over the last 2 years. Retention says a lot for a leader too. In fact most big corporations look at that when its time for the managements evaluations/raises. And if all the people that have left or been fired where "dirty" then what does that say for his interview skills.

Last but not least, when I said Brad knows how to treat people with respect, in no way does that imply that he would not discipline someone under him. That is a requirement of any boss. It is the way you do it. The is a difference when you discipline someone because you know they need it and you expect their performance to improve, rather than doing it to prove who is in charge. Some people get the big head when they get a title.

don't have a problem with Joe. I just think Brad would make the best Sheriff we have had sine J.C. Waller. That is J.C. not Larry. Larry was ok but not near the Sheriff his father was. Brad has the total package. Law enforcement skills, personality, temperment, people skills, etc. it takes a lot of qualities to make a total Sheriff. Joe does a good job as did Larry.

AMEN ANON 1:07PM:

For those of you not fortunate enough to live here when J.C. was Sheriff, you don't know what a Sheriff is.

Fine man.

Dear 11:00,

It might be of benefit to remind you of who started all of this on line local news business.

It was the "Cowards and CAVE People first, followed by the 'history channel,' and then you pal here had no choice but to try and compete.

That can't be done profitably while trying to run a printed newspaper.

It would also be worth noting that the "history channel' is kickin it even though they've been outnumbered 10 to 1 for over a year.

Now go and suck up some more and see where it gets you.

yeah lets get a waller back in the sheriffs office and send lamar county back into the good ol boy days, lamar county is just now comming up to modern times and there are still old clowns that want to send us right back to the days of it dont matter what crime you commited its who ya know

You might be a redneck if.....you refer to everyone that doesn't live in a trailer as a "good ole boy"

ANON 2:55PM

I have no reason to suck up to anybody. I simply thanked walter for the information in a timely fashion. I was making a point that there are "wanna-bs" that don't fit the bill and go aroung trying to impersonate being the official press.

I have great reservation about someone going around digging for dirt to put on some web page. I understand that some local businesses may now be paying for ads to support such a medium. If so, I know many fine folks who will let it be known to those businesses that they will not do business with them. Getting free ads is one thing but paying for it shows they support it.

If someone is offended by not being up to par with the standards, then get off the course or get up to par.

PS:
DON'T EVER KICK A SLEEPING DOG!

Anon11:10 your last sentence is BS.Keep your nose clean no problem with joe then why did,nt he uphold his oath of office to enforce the law and do something about the laws being broke at the vfw,it took an outside agency to do what he was suppose to do.

Anonymous said...

anon 4:18 don,t be fooled the good ole boy days are still here and taking good care of a certain few.Don't think for a minute joe buice aint taking full advantage of it.

Anonymous said...

8:27 liquor has been served at the vfw club since way back when JC waller was sheriff and probably longer than that and everyone including every sheriff has always known that. but if it makes you feel better to blame joe buice for it then go ahead. most of you are here for a witch hunt anyways

Anonymous said...

I agree with Buice and all other past Sheriffs for not screwing with the VFW.

Lets remember the VFW consist of the very same men that fought to give us the freedom to get on this damm blog at air our crazy thoughts.

Why would anyone want to mess with the VFW? I have already contacted my representatives to get a law passed that would exemp the VFW from any local pouring laws.

Anonymous said...

of all the people that attend the VFW only a small few ever served in the aremd forces get over it its a place for DRUNKS to hang out with other DRUNKS

Anonymous said...

I admit I have never been to the VFW since I am not a veteran. I did not realize non-veterans went there. I always thought it was a private establishment for the veterans to meet. Maybe if we new more about the activities we may think different.

Anonymous said...

Maybe there should be a law exempting vfws from local liquor laws and I,m sure the last two or three sheriffs turned their heads to the issue to avoid a political hot potato but was it right??My problem with it is based on what I know it is being run as a front for personal gain for one or two people. One instance that I know of on friday nights a bottle of liquor would be raffled off and the profits(appr-175.00)was raised to buy phone cards to send to troops over seas so they could call loved ones.Today that money is gone and no cards were ever bought. It would be nice to know that the place was generating a lot of profit and that profit was benefitting all the vets and those over seas but from what I hear it's not.

11:17 you can call the truth a witch hunt if you want to but the truth will prevail and by the way what position do you hold at the sheriffs office?
